Hi,

My LLMD had me recently resume Bactrim to treat Bart.

I'm still at 1/2 dose, but am already having issues such as pressure/feelings of heat in my head, whole body soreness, and headaches.

Then last night I had an awful bout of sleep paralysis. I've had this happen to me before since I suspect I contract Lyme and TBI.

But this recent occurrence felt like it lasted for hours, and was very nightmarish.

If you are not familiar with sleep paralysis, this is when the mind wakes up but the body is still asleep, so you can't talk or move but your mind is awake. You can still be dreaming, as was the case for me, and my dreams were nightmares.

I recall from when I tried Bactrim before that I had a lot of violent dreams, gory and bloody, often with me screaming in them.

Can anyone relate to Bart treatment causing this sort of violent/frightening dream/sleep issues? My waking personality is so far unaffected.

Thanks.

i had always been told that the violent bloody dreams were babesia related. Bactrim hits that too. have you checked this out?

I know I was tested for Babs and came back negative, but my LLMD has mentioned that I may have it.

I had a strong reaction to plaquenil that brought out night sweats, but I'm not sure if I had other Babs-specific symptoms. I don't get fevers.

Even my Bart test came back neg from Igenex, but "something" showed up on my Fry labs smear and I have a lot of Bart-like symptoms, such as foot and shin pain, and I also have had the red streaking rash.

Right now my only "rash" is tons of persistent body acne on my back, shoulders, chest, and a bit on my face. This started last fall and just won't let up.

I also get lupus-like facial flushing.

Overall, I'm doing well. I'm at about 14 months of treatment and working full time again, though that's a daily struggle. Always a shocker that a change in meds can still bring about so much symptom activity.

I didn't know Bactrim hit Babs as well, thanks for mentioning that. I'll tell my LLMD about the violent dreams when I check in next.

I'm feeling like myself while awake, so hopefully this isn't a big deal and will pass with more time/treatment.

My son fought horrible bouts of sleep paralysis, but he didn't have Bart, only Lyme and it resolved with Lyme treatment and he is now well.

I treated Bart and yes had vivid, horrible nightmares that would cycle. I wonder if was the meds penetrating my brain or the Bart. But yeah, I can relate to that.

Bump
I had an episode earlier today. It's so trippy.

EDIT: I may have found the link between Lyme and Sleep Paralysis.

AMMONIA!

I've had sleep paralysis twice during my Lyme treatment.

The first time I had recently started a glutamine powder product (known to elevate ammonia levels)

Th second time I had just introduced homemade sauerkraut to my system. Well fermented sauerkraut is VERY high in glutamine.

Damn I'm good. : )
