I did tigecycline for every day for the entire month of december. I stop all abx on Dec 31st and on Jan 9th I broke out in hives. Hives have been a constant symptom in my I've had over the last last 5 years in treating lyme.

On Feb 1st I got sick with a horrible cough. Over the course of the last few weeks that cough turned into a bacterial infection and on Feb 8th my doctor put me on two inhalers (advair and proair), a 3 day zpack, cherratussin with ac syrup, and flonase. On Friday I saw my llmd and she told me I have pneumonia now.

As of Friday (last night) I am taking ketek 2 times a day, advair, pro air, cherratussin with ac syrup, and tessalon. The ONLY other medication I am taking acyclovir 2 times day, valtrex 3000mg a day, armour 1 grain, and levoxyl.

I woke up this morning covered head to toe in huge welted hives. My hives have previously been small dots on my legs and arms (which sometimes turn into welts). I washed all my laundry with ONLY baking soda. I have not eaten anything new or used any new products. The only new things I have taken are ketek (which I took jan to june 2009) and I also added in the tessalon yesterday. I ONLY took 1 ketek yesterday.

I am at a loss of what the hell to do. My LLMD has no clue why I am broken out with hives. I was off all lyme meds up until Monday when I took the z-pack. And now they are worse and so itchy. I take up to 8 benedryl a day (opposite effect I get energy from it luckily)

Anyone who has any advice of what I can do would be so great!

Thank you,
smiles

are you sure you don't have bartonella?

I ask because bartonella can look live hives with welts, and z-pack/ketek can cause bart herxes, and may explain why you got hives after taking these meds.

Maybe it isn't bartonella, but you might want to bring it up with your LLMD

I have done the fry test and they say I have possible bartenella and mycoplasma. My llmd has run additional blood work for mycoplasma but I have tested neg for bart on every single igenex test for the last 5 years.

Despite testing negative I have done 4 months of riphamin and iv levaquin. I have tested positive for babesia repeadily and she thinks that the hives could be a form of babesia, but she does not believe I have bart-I have asked her about this several times.
