but just wondering if the yeast could do the same?

Yes yeast can make you can itch like mad!
I developed a yeast rash under my PICC line dressing over the summer. I guess all the heat and humidity caused extra moisture to build up under there. It was not fun. I wanted to scratch my skin off. And it took way too long to heal.
Allergies can show up as skin rashes also so you probably need to be evaluated by a doctor to find out what is causing your itchy rash.

Antihistamines like Benadryl or Zyrtec may help relieve your itching.
You can also try cold compresses to the area.
These things won't cure your rash but they may help you feel better until you can see your doctor.
