Hi Guys, You've probably seen me around here.
Im pretty sure my 17 year old son has lyme and/or co-infections. (I'd bet the farm--if I had one-lol)
He has a appt with Family Dr this afternoon and my LLMD has given me a list of test that would be helpful in getting him started.
I have done alot of research trying to find out how to go about this.
the test are:
CBC-CMP Vit D25 Vit D 1, 25 Lyme Western Blot and WA-1
I want to go through Igenex for the western blot (thats who my LLMD used for me) and from what I can tell we we'll have to order a test kit so I guess we wont beable to do Western blot today
my question is: the dr has given my son abx before for severe acne so im going that route again to get the ball rolling until testing
BUT
i thought if he was on abx and then tested it might cover results but from what I've read in post it seems to be better to be on abx first???? IM CONFUSED
ALSO
I saw where someone said don't send it to insurance with lyme diag yet as they are more apt not to pay???
I tried to go to that link on this website and it was no longer there.
I don't know if insurance will even pay but he does had Medicaid until he turns 18 in May....thus I would like to get testing done asap.
Does anyone know if medicaid will pay? I am in Virginia.
Thanks for any help and God Bless.
Karen (:

Best to do a round of abx (like one month) then go OFF abx for 10-14 days, then test.
However, others advocate no wait at all.
He wouldn't HAVE to go on abx first, but if you want the highest number of bands to show up, then get him on abx first.
Is there any rush on testing???
Some here don't send such info to insurance, but I did. It took 9 mo for them to pay for the test, but they did. I had no trouble with their paying for 4 yrs of abx.
I don't know anything about Medicaid.
