I need your thoughts... I am on week 8 of doxy and day 4 of mepron and zith. I woke at 2 am with major burning pain in flank area.
That went away after 1/2 hour but returned full force tonight. I took Tylenol which didn't touch it.
Now I am soaking in a hot Epsom salt bath with some relief. Could this be my first herx?
I did have this pain before treatment only no where near as severe. I was actually in tears to my hubby. Any more remedies for me to try? How long can this last? My special needs daughter has surgery tomorrow AM and I need to be able to focus on her.
Please help with suggestions if you can!

You may need electrolytes.
Drink mixes they have for vomiting and diarrhea
may help. Try a pinch of salt too.

With it being your 4th day of zith, it could well be a herx.
I would herx on 4th day of new meds when I was treating.
Drink lots of water and eat fresh lemons. Hopefully, this won't last too long.
With a herx you OFTEN get a more severe case of a familiar symptom, so that sounds like your case.
Put the 2 things together and I vote for it being a herx.
Now that you know what it is like, you have to consider your schedule when deciding when to start new meds. If daughter is going to have surgery, don't start any new meds the week before the surgery, or even 2 weeks before, just to be safe.

Be sure to take something to protect from yeast,
I take Nystatin 4 times a day,
and something to keep the bowels in check. I take Creon.
The meds are very hard on the colon but these help.

Pain has been extreme for me for 3.5 years and I can tell you LD pain is nearly impossible to control, I have tried everything.
Believe it or not the best out of every Rx from morphine and everything else is Ibuprofen and Xanax. That is it.
