I was diagnosed with lyme and ehrlichia a couple of months ago. For my first month with the doctor, I have been put on a starting treatment of Amoxicillin at 3,000 mg a day. After looking around the site, this seems like a relatively low dose of Amox. Could this be because my doctor has not treated me before and was attempting to gauge my response to this level of antibiotic?
If not, this is a little puzzling. My Dr. is a fmr high ranking member of ILADS supposedly following dr. b guidelines.
thx,
P

That is the starting dose only. You have to get your blood peak and trough levels checked to ensure the correct dose for your body to make sure the amount is adequate.

Yes, Amox alone. I have been supplementing with nutramedix Herbs, but this has not been at the advice of my dr. but based on independent research I've done online based on my symptoms (mainly neuro/brainfog,etc.)

Which doctor Rxed this dose? Did you ask for an explantion from your LLMD?
Many docs 'say' they are ILADS/Dr. B treatment type, but then do something completely different. Sadly, their following of Dr. B's protocol ends at the part about believing in the existence of chronic Lyme.

Seek is right, and even some ILADS doctors act this way, sad but true.
Stork, the Nutramedix herbs are pretty powerful so that is not really Amoxy alone if you are on herbs too. It can be a good combination to try.
Are you not even on Augmentin or Probenecid with the Amoxy?

Search the topic "Topic: Is it odd that my llmd only put me on one abx?" that was posted on 2/11/09...

Did not ask for an explanation, but I was less informed then than I am now. Dr. is a former very high ranking member of ILADS - somewhat puzzling.

That doesn't mean much, unfortunately.
