Has anyone done this?
Did you experience any problems?
How many days were you off Rifampin?
Any serious side effects, other than flu-like symptoms?

My LLMD does not hesitate to stop and restart. It sort of scares me. Should I ask for another abx?

My LLMD does not hesitate to stop and re-start yet I've learned from others that you should not do this.

I've stopped and re-started several times. Each time I re-started I've gotten terrible body aches.

How long do the body aches last?

First time our daughter had to stop for 8 days, then restarted at 300mg seemed ok, about 4 days later added the additional 300mg and she had alot of nausea.

So we stayed at 300mg for about a month, then went back to the 600mg total daily, now she has been on the 300mg twice a day for about a month, and the past week seems like some mild herxing.

Good luck, jane

I have stopped and restarted that med.
several times and herxed but not anything
worse then the first time I took it.

I have stopped it for 1-2 months at at time.
I had concerns too because of things I read
about resistance and possible issues with restarting
it but I did not experience either.

what I read about the dangerous 'flu syndrome' that can happen if you pulse rifampin, is that it happens if you're taking it 3 days a week or something along those lines. I don't think it's a problem to stop for a few days or a few weeks, from that perspective.
