So when I chelate on the weekends... should I add chlorella to my protocol?
My doctor has me on Xymogen Chelex on Saturdays and Sundays.
He didn't mention taking chlorella also.

cane, if you're going to try chelation, it's my understanding from just about everyone that you need to be taking a binder (like chlorella). Since I don't really believe in chelation, in the form it's being used by many, my opinion might not be worth much.
Why don't you call the Dr.'s office and ask?

Massman, I feel like responding here even though the subject was brought up by someone else, because there really is in effect no such thing as effective chelation; it is only mobilization. And there is no one single agent or one step that will take the metals out, no matter how hard you try. You may think so because you can force a few molecules with certain substances, but it simply is not possible en masse. You cannot get to the depth of where the toxic metals really sit until you do a lot of mobilization and necessary companion treatments.
I have done it or tried it for years before I finally did Allergy Immun. Now the stuff is moving with the body's own forces; I simply now support that work to avoid redistribution.
Dr. K. had not used the word chelation for all the years I have known him - and I know he has not changed his mind about the word. Metal detox and chlorella has been his brainchild for decades. Many "experts" use the expression chelation. Detox and chemical detox is probably the most involved therapy of any I have ever looked at closely, especially once the body is unable to regulate any longer and has achieved only a very chaotic autonomic nervous system through various attempts and tries, but not much else.
But that does not mean that heavy metal detox cannot be done successfully.
Take care.

Personally, I'd add more binders and enlist someone who really knows a lot about heavy metal removal. You can damage yourself with heavy metal removal if not done just right.
