I learned from here you should always take doxy with food. I eat first then take the doxy because if I take the doxy first even if followed within in seconds by food I still get the upset stomach.
I did it the whole first month without food because that's what it says and the nasuea was terrible and the herxing was 10 times worse.
I'm on my second month and haven't had as many issues since I am not taking it with food. It probably isn't working as well because of the food which is why I'm not herxing as bad but slow and steady wins the race in my opinion. I'm rather it take a bit longer then feel so sick all the time.
I did herxed after the second dose of doxy the first time, that's when my joint pain started and it never stopped. Many people say you can herx almost immediately. Everyone is different.
I would try to take it with food. Also do not lie down until after 30 mins after taking it. There is a risk to your esphogus (Spell?!?!?!). I'm hope someone else will chime in as well.
It sounds like you and I are in the same boat. I also tried taking it as it says without food and the same thing happened to me.
I gave up that and it seems that eating with the doxy isn't as hard on my gut and most symptoms.
Take care, LAXlover Only 6 days of this under my belt!

Never take doxy and lay down always stay upright for at least a hour or you feel like your chest is goning to explode i did it by mistake once and paid for 2 or 3 days. The other feelings are the beginning of herx.
