For the last few years when I go to bed it takes my body about half an hour to do what I call calm down. Over the years I have found it works better if I lay down for ten minutes get up walk around then go lye down again, sometimes I need to do this two or three times
Last night, after a hectic day a laid down and the blood was pounding in my ears, worse that it ever has done. It made me get up and get my blood pressure cuff, it showed 168/64, I was surprised so I laid down and took the pressure again three minutes later.
My blood pressure had dropped to 124/64, got up and took it again, 162/86, laid down after 3min I took it again it was 129/67. My question is would this be normal?
Thanks everyone.

I think our adrenals get fatigued by this illness eg Lyme and co-infections and when that happens, whenever that happens our body then goes into fight or flight mode. The adrenal cortex fails so the adrenal medulla and the sympathetic autonomic nervous system simply starts pouring out adrenalin to keep our organ systems supplied with an adequate volume of blood at an adequate pressure level. The problem is adrenalin is more of an on/off type response you are either all revved up or you are nodding off. I found using herbal supplements that helped the adrenal gland kept my blood pressure more stable and helped me get to sleep and importantly to stay asleep for longer periods of time. Oddly licoric root was what worked for me, I stumbled on to it, thought it helped me sleep better then went and researched it on-line and now drink a cup of licorice root tea 1-2 hrs before bed each evening. Any way you should check your b/p daily after starting this if you decide to try it and also check your potassium and sodium level since the licorice works by helping your body retain sodium and may expel potassium at same time.
