I have been referred to an Infectious Disease specialist and he told me I did not have lyme because my Elisa was negative. My Igenex results were positive and CDC positive. The results:
IGM 23-25 ++ 31 + 39 + 41 + 58 + 83-83 +
IGG (CDC negative) 31 + 41 +
My canadian doctor said that american testing labs are inaccurate. Can anyone tell me if this could be a false positive? Thanks.

ELISA has a very low accuracy rate. Lyme literate doctors don't bother with it because it is so inaccurate.
You have several bands that are specific for borrelia (the causative agent of lyme disease). You have been tested by the best lab that there is for TBI's (Tick borne infections). That is their speciality. You have lyme based on your test.
Don't bother with an infectious disease doctor. They know little about lyme disease and are responsible for many ending up here with chronic infections.
ILADS is a group of physicians who specialize in treating lyme disease. http://www.ilads.org/

Wow....you have Lyme disease...keep in mind, I am not a doctor. Someone with much more knowledge than myself will come along I'm sure. In the mean time, check out this link for an explanation of the Western Blot.

How much longer will doctors believe in the ELISA? They need to be re-educated. I think most either deny a positive test because of true ignorance, or they are cowards and afraid of treating Lyme.
They know Lyme patients aren't the easiest patients to deal with after 10-14 days of doxycycline. After all, it's not easy to convince them that their aches and pains are just a part of daily living.

A false positive Western Blot is like a false positive pregnancy test.
Trust the Western Blot and find yourself a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor asap.
Go to seeking a doctor section and post your name and where you live.
Hang in there.

Alot can be learned from the Western Blot test and yours shows a strong positive because you caught it in the early stages!
Lymetoo: You should be a little more careful with your words and not try to scare people! In this case ignorance is not bliss..
It's easy enough to say go find a lyme literate doctor, but then again many of you don't live in Western Canada.. where there are none..

DAnia....you have band 31 positive on your IgM. That band takes a year before it turns positive. So you've had lyme much longer than 3 months, sorry to say.
So do I BTW...I also have 31 and 34 on my IgM.
-------------------- Bite date ? 2/10 symptoms began 5/10 dx'd, after 3 months numerous test and doctors
IgM Igenex +/CDC + + 23/25, 30, 31, 34, 41, 83/93
