A couple of times yesterday and then today, just a few minutes ago, I have had heart palpitations which left

me feeling short of breath afterwards. Is this a normal Lyme symptom or more specifically a sign / symptom

of a herx? I just began my Flagyl treatment on Monday so this is about the 4th day of it.

I've noticed a bit more twitching of my legs and feet as well while I am sitting at my desk. Also having some pains in my right thigh.

The palpitations are what are my main "concern" right now though!

Thanks for any input!

I used to get that. I *thought* it was babesia, but magnesium makes sense, too.

It's good that SKG brings that up. It could be babesia &/or low magnesium. But, as the treatment path for babesia takes a while, magnesium can sure help along the way - in many ways.

Magnesium is not going to address the infection, directly, but it can help address the results of such.

My LLMD has not put me on anything for Magnesium! I DO have some EPSOM salts.

Doesn't that have Magnesium? I can soak it that tonight!

Soak away, I put 3 cups in 6 inch deep bath water, and it really does allow the magnesium to absorb transdermally, in fact I often get slightly sleepy when I do this (3X/week after
workouts). Pre wet your hair to avoid matting by mag sulfate.

Oh . . . Beachinit, thanks for that hair tip. I never knew.

Kim,

Yes, soak away but keep in in the warm zone, not hot. Twenty minutes is a good starting time.

I wouldn't blame it on your medication until you've compared the time of your symptoms to recent 'geomagnetic activity' - a geomagnetic storm. If you click on the black bars on the bottom, it reads...

http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/alerts/warnings_timeline.html

Space Weather Message Code: WATA30
Serial Number: 92
Issue Time: 2010 Aug 05 1617 UTC

Comment: It appears that the two coronal mass ejections observed on 1 August
merged into one event that became geoeffective late on 3 August.

Your palpitations and shortness of breath may have been caused by this storm. I get them, too. In fact, earlier this week we had two coronal mass ejections, coronal shaking, a solar tsunami...a whole bunch of things.

This was from August 3rd, and it includes a picture of the sun...

http://spaceweather.com/archive.php?view=1&day=03&month=08&year=2010

COMPLEX ERUPTION ON THE SUN: On August 1st, the entire Earth-facing side of the sun erupted in a tumult of activity. There was a C3-class solar flare, a solar tsunami, multiple filaments of magnetism lifting off the stellar surface, large-scale shaking of the solar corona, radio bursts, a coronal mass ejection and more.

These are all normal while under treatment.
I had major heart "palps", esp. during the 1st month on abx.
Those & body muscle twitches are helped with a good magynesium supplement, taken daily, as Keebler suggests.

elizzza,
I THOUGHT my TV reception was acting up lately.
[Embarrassed] In fact, that may explain an otherwise 'unexplainable' surge in electronic repairs arriving, including "returns".
Hmmm...
Think I'll go hide in my 8' lead-lined, brass-screened pyramid that my water-bed's built into!
(Oh I wish)

KEEP A LOOKOUT for some Fine Northern Lights, folks!

Dear elizzza,
I need help understanding the info & links you posted above.

I'm interested in the effects of weather and phases of the moon on the symptoms of LD & co's. (I've noticed people with Bartonelliosis worsen the day before the full moon. Any stats on that?)

Maybe you could start a new thread with your info?

Dear TN Kim,
I am sorry you've had those scary symptoms!

I had serious (to me!) "racing heart" for the first time in my life this spring when I'd ramped up nutritional supplements after consulting ILADS Dr B's guidelines (trying to be as healthy as possible in anticipation of finding an LLMD). Just givin my poor bod a boost from supplements was enough to bring on scary herx! I had a couple days i really thought i was gonna die. (But, alas, no such luck! LOL. I am actually in a good mood now.)

Kim,

I started new abx last week and have been experiencing ALL the symptoms you talked about.

I have had them in the past too before I started treatment.

I have always thought Babs but now wonder if they're part of a herx. I've had emotional stuff going on too so that points to herx theory.

In any case, taking magnesium helps me, and not worrying about it all helps a lot too.

Just symptoms, will pass, no worries!

Now go and KILL those BUGS!!! [spinning smile]

Thank you all for the advice, help and support!

Now I am getting ready to go see my GP for my quarterly Diabetes check-up.

I know she is going to ask me how her last RX for Doxy helped my symptoms .... since my test were all "negative". *sigh*

I'm scared about having to tell her that I am now seeing my LLMD. I love her and she is a

doctor for me and also a friend from H.S. I do NOT want to offend or hurt her!!! [Frown]

I gave up my best friend from HS to the Lyme Wars: a chiropractor in an endemic state. She thinks i'm just overly dramatic, or paranoid and borderline psycho.

She enjoyed pontificating about how much time she spent online researching Swine Flu, even telling me how she didn't have time to talk specifically because of her desire to "get the word out" about Swine Flu.

I chose not to allow her to continue to demean and belittle me while convincing herself she was being "kind."

I also chose not to tell her I'm certain her husband has Bart. When they figure it out, I'll help. I plan to be much healthier by then!

That stinks about your "friend", Remember!

THANKFULLY, my GP was understanding and supportive and I think the fact that I was honest

with her and gave her a list of all the medications that my LLMD has me taking, helped!

I did ask her what else she could do for me since she had already extended my original Doryx

prescription. She said only do more testing and she didn't even know WHAT else to test for!

She was honest about that and I really appreciated her frankness!

Ok, just as a side note, I'm getting more achy as today goes on.

I did go ahead and take my 1st daily dose with lunch ... and already had a tummy issue but not

too bad just yet! The jury is still out on the supper dose! [Wink]

Hugs to you all!
