So how is it that my dog can get a lyme vaccine but we humans can't? Hmm? Hmm?

There used to be a human vaccine, but it didn't work very well and made a lot of people very sick.
The company claimed it wasn't profitable and withdrew it from the market several years ago.
Some people would make a lot of money if they could develop a new one. That has ramifications for IDSA policy and Lyme politics that affect us negatively.
On the other hand, if a safe and effective one could be developed, it could prevent a lot of human Lyme tragedies.

Well my initial reaction was that it's not able to protect my dog. How could it? The understanding is that lyme can be caught and recaught, etc.

I for one had Lymerix (all 3 shots). Having been a boy scout in my younger years and having numerous ticks on me, I thought I would be proactive as my 2 young sons reached scouting age. What a mistake that was. And for all I know, I could have had lyme since I was a scout myself.
