Ok, weird... I did flagyl last week and had a hard time and still feel the effects this week. Not sure if that is normal or not, but I thought it was a detox issue.

I scheduled for a body massage today to hopefully get some toxins moving and flushed out. When I was leaving, I had blurred vision and brain fog worse. Actually got in my car and cried! SO much for the relaxation part huh?

SO what is your thoughts? Excessive toxins being moved around? This is so confusing! [hi]

Exactly, too much, too fast. My daughter has a difficult time with any type of detox. Light lymphatic drainage, flu for days. 5 minutes of steam, flu for days. Epsom salts bath, flu for days.

She is in her first year of treatment and I think her pathogen load is too high to handle any extra types of treatment to get the toxins moving.

IMO, I think it is OK to have a slight increase in symptoms, but if they get too bad, or last for too long, it may be that it's too soon.

I hope that you feel better soon.

Instead of an hour only do 30 mins Swedish massage (lighter than deep tissue)

Massages also increase endorphins and indirectly help kill Ketes.

Enjoy the detox (crying session) and keep getting the massages. They are no way harmful to the body.

I would say toxins being moved around.

Deep tissue masage has been life a saver for me.

A lot of hydration the day before massage helps and I usualy bring big bottle of water to drink after massage

Stephen Buhner says in Healing Lyme that massages are essential and should not be considered a luxury. I got them every other week when I was sick.

You should drink lots of water before and after to help flush out toxins. Plan on relaxing the rest of the day when you get one .... at least I had to.

I have been to several massage therapists, and they have all told me to drink a lot of water afterwards to flush out any toxins that might get stirred up. I've heard this before and after I had Lyme.

I usually feel better after mine. In fact it's one of the few things I can always count on to give me some pain relief.

I did have an experience that I speculated was toxins moving around. The first few times I drank lemon water at lunch time, I got sudden fatigue an hour later that lasted for several hours and then lifted. When I drank the lemon water at a different time of day, it still happened an hour after.

By the 5th or 6th day, I have not noticed that reaction again. I now drink it in the morning with breakfast and don't get fatigue from it.

I think those first times, it was stirring up more than I could get rid of at once. Maybe the massage will work that way for you, and after a couple more times it will make you feel better instead of worse.

I think it works by both stimulating your lymph system and moving toxins that are in your fat cells under your skin. Far infrared sauna does something similar, but then is able to get the toxins out through your skin in the form of sweat. With massage you don't sweat, so you have to drink water and get the toxins out that way, or they will just hide in your cells again.
