So I'd thought that immune-enhancing remedies would be good since my immune system has been whacked by the Lyme and Epstein-Barr. The obvious choice was my ol' friend Echinacea, which I'd take and administer to my family during [pre-Lyme] bouts of illnesses.
Now I'm not so sure... What if my immune system is 'whacked', yes - but overly-stimulated already?
What are thoughts about echinacea specifically and other immune-balancing helpers in general?

My LLMD doesn't recommend it. She says if you do still choose to use it only do it for a short time and only every other day.
She said she has seen it stimulate too much and cause auto immune problems with lyme patients.

Worthless, I bleeve, for helping "fight" Lyme by being an immune system stimulator.
You're better of with thing's like Cat's Claw, Reshi mushroom (esp. the spores) and colloidal silver.

- It is not recommended for any chronic lyme patient to take any immune boosting supplement, unless as part of an very carefully balanced formula.
Get expert advice from a LLMD or LL ND (naturopathic doctor).
Lyme changes everything about what we thought we knew about the body. Stimulating an immune system that has been turned on its head can be dangerous. Only an ILADS-educated doctor can guide you with this. There are very specific ways to support - not boost. -

Links to many articles and books by holistic-minded LL doctors of various degrees who all have this basic approach in common:
Understanding of the importance of addressing the infection(s) fully head-on with specific measures;
Knowing that support supplements are important, but NEVER enough alone. And knowing which supplements have direct impact, which are only support and which are both.
You can compare and contrast many approaches.
