Hello All;

Have a question for those taking Cortef that are also taking Biaxin or Zithro. type abx.s.

My LLMD had me see an Endo. to test my adrenal function and we decided to start a low dose of Cortef. Starting at 5mg.'s in the am and possibly building up to another 5 mg.'s in the pm. I am also supplementing with natural as well.

I am taking Biaxin 1000 mg.'s a day and have had great results on this regimen.

My concern is that the pharmacist told me to be cautious when taking cortef with Biaxin type abx.'s as it can cause a Cushings type of response because it may prevent the body from getting rid of the cortef and it can build up in your tissues. Cortisol overload I guess?

Has anyone else heard of this? I could not imagine that the Endo. and my LLMD would prescribe these two drugs together if there was an interaction between the two?

I am on a pretty low dose of Cortef so maybe it is a moot point. I have a call into both doctors but in the mean time wanted to see if others are taking these two drugs together and if so have you had any problems? Thanks!
