Hi.

Thought I'd post a study that my Lyme doc co-authored concerning Bartonella. See here:

Basically it shows several cases of human infection with Bartonella Kholerae, previously only known in cats.

My doc thinks I may have this Bartonella variant based upon my symptoms, but even the Galaxy testing is negative, though it shows a Bartonella-like organism on a Fry blood smear. I seem to be responding well to treatment, so hopefully this can be resolved sometime.

Personally I would suggest a Clongen bloodslide as well -- especially since it only costs $100.

Hubby's last slide said that cocobacilli were seen in 1 of every 20 fields -- even though you don't get a photo at least the lab is now quantifying the level of bacteremia. Hubby's previous slide only said numerous -- but obviously he had made significaqnt progress in eliminating the bacteria between the 2 slides.

What is interesting in that study is that the patients showed inprovements in the months AFTER the antibiotics were stopped.

It begs the question of how long to treat? Does improvement continue off antibiotics?

I also wonder what doses were used? Some of the treatments were relatively short, months not years.
