I have a 16 year old who has lyme symptoms but has been diagnosed (we think incorrectly) with fibromyalgia even though she had a tick bite followed by several rashes. We live about 6 miles outside of Philadelphia but would be willing to travel anywhere. She can barely hold a pen/pencil anymore...help please.

Dear Siciliano, I am so grateful for your email that is full of such useful information. My husband and I are about to sit down and highlight all of your valuable material. I first sat down with my daughter and told her about your email so that she would have some "hope". She has been sick since August and we recently saw a pediatric rheumatologist who was condescending and basically wrote her off as being neurotic and a complainer. She is a straight A student, varsity tennis player and a well liked teenage girl. She can't get off of the couch, can't hold a pencil let alone a tennis racket and is now being tutored to keep up in school due to the fatugue and aches. The doctor wants her to "exercise" it off and take a sleep aid. We used to have to make her put the brakes on with the exercise because she enjoys it so much, he made it seem that she was lazy. She has had several rashes over the last few months and headache, joint aches etc. In October, she had bronchittis and was treated with 20 days of prednisone and augmentin and this was the only time she started to feel better....the doctor didn't want to hear this. Anyway, thanks again for "listening" and providing so much support. I feel as though my whole life has been turned upside down trying to find some answers for my daughter.
