I live in SE Chester County, PA and am an avid gardener. My yard is full of deer frequently. Three years ago I went to the doctor for a 3 week small rash on my shoulder and a very stiff neck. He said it was not a bullseye and told me to put cortisone cream on it. I insisted on a lyme test and he had the Elisa performed. It was negative. Since then I have developed severe back/neck pain, flickering eyes, dizziness, aching joints and burning skin. In April of 2010 I had the Elisa and Western Blot performed. Both were negative. In July 2010, the neurologist had a brain and spinal MRI done which revealed lesions in the brain and spine. The diagnosis of MS will be given after I have another MRI performed. This may sound silly but, my dog was diagnosed with lyme disease in 2008 so I am unsure if I should just accept and begin treatment for MS considering the area I live in. I am trying to find a good LLMD who will rule out lyme for certain. Any help will be appreciated.

I'm just getting on this site after many years...and saddened to read this first posting of your being neglected by the medical community for 3 years. Don't you find it unusual the veterinarians provide accurate diagnosis of lyme? and do you understand the political controversy for humans with the medical boards and pharmaceutical and insurance companies? It's about money. You need to see a lyme literate physician immediately; I suffered as you did from 1988 to 1994 before diagnosis, am still undergoing treatment but have a good life again. My prayers are with you.

Hope I am doing this correctly as this is my first post. I was happy to find this site. I have been convinced for the past 10 years I've had Lyme yet all of the titers and Western Blots have come back negative. At the time I first saw a doctor, I have a large, oval rash on a hip and fatigue. It happened again 3 years ago and this time I had an oval rash near my belly button and felt horrible. I was tested for eberything under the sun yet everything negative. I have been suffering with joint pain, facial twitching, trouble sleeping, IBS, anxiety, headaches, palpitations, occular migraines, tinnitus, malaise and extreme fatigue. I'm 50 yet I feel 100! Since none of the specialists can find anything wrong with me, they claim its Fibromyalgia since my Lyme tests come back negative. No one will treat me for Lyme with negative tests because they claim too many legal issues prescribing Clindamycin because of the possibilty of ending up with C-difficile. I am so frustrated and will pursue seeking a diagnostic exam and workup with a Lyme specialist once I locate one. All I want is to have my labs done by a lab geared to test for Lyme. Even if it does end up negative I will feel better knowing I tried everything. Has anyone else had this same problem getting someone to believe you and fight for you?
