Hello folks, We are a little desperate, looking for an LLMD in the Chicago area. Could you kindly let us know of any LLMDs in the area? My wife just moved to downtown Chicago to attend school there and it will no longer be feasible for her to see the LLMD we have been seeing in the SF Bay area. She has taken quite sick lately and would like to see an LLMD at the earliest. Any input would be much appreciated. Please e-mail us directly: [email protected]

Good Morning and Welcome to LymeNet.
While I believe that there maybe an LLMD in the Chicago area, I haven't really ever heard good thing about him.
Many in that area go to one of the best in the country, right there in Missouri, the next state to IL. www.drcharlescrist.com
He doesn't require that you see him every month. My daughter and her two children, all positive for LD, saw Dr. C of MO (link above) for the first time on August 30th and they don't have to return until January.
I think that that is a workable amount for anyone anywhere. He understands that most of his patients have to travel great distances to see him...he is WORTH THE TRIP!!!
Anyway while you are still looking for an LLMD, here's some very, very important links that will explain many things.

There is a LLMD in the Chicago burbs a Dr B. I have had nothing but awful experiences with her. She even kicked a patient out on their first vist because they asked too many questions. She took said patient back but made it clear they were to march to her drum beat and not question her. She them proceeded to put this person on three very hard antibotics right away and within a month his liver was shot and was a yellow and squash. Of course when they tried to get a hold of her to ask what was going on she refused to return their calls. Stay away for that bad name of a LLMD.

It appears you are most likely talking about the same LLMD I see. From your e-mail it was difficult to discern if YOU actually had bad experiences w/ her of if it was just things you heard from others.
My treatment experience with Dr. B has been 100% positive. I find it hard to believe that she would put someone on 3 ABX and not check their liver regularly. At most, I was on 2 ABXs at a time, and she always checked my liver regularly and made me stop meds if my enzymes elevated.
Also, I have definitely asked my fair share of questions, and she has always been receptive to my own thoughts on the course of treatment. I have not once felt like she was annoyed w/ my inquiries.
Everyone is always going to have their own opinions on particular doctors, and I respect that. However, for people who live in the upper Midwest that need help, I believe Dr. B is a good choice based on my own experiences.
