I have a LLMD here in Vancouver,B.C. but I want to speak with a Dr. who is knowledgable regarding children.
Even just for my LLMD to speak with regarding meds etc... My son is 10 yrs old and has tested pos. up here for Bart, also has most of the symptoms of Lyme.
He will be starting abx very soon and I am so scared for him, I don't know what to expect with treatment. And I don't know what to tell his teacher. She knows about his depression, but I think she believes that it is a cop out for my parenting or something.(Many, many talks already this year!)
I have a 5 yr old and a 1 yr old as well, although I pray to God every day that they don't or won't have this, I would like to know what to watch for (congenital Lyme).
If anyone has any info regarding Pediatric LLMDs here or else where(email?) I would greatly appreciate it!

My daughter also has lyme. Three years and counting on antibiotics. Important to keep on the school. It took us a year but, now my daughter has an IEP in place for accomodations if needed. Do not let them give your son a 504 plan. The school legally does not have to follow a 504 plan, they do an IEP. We typed up a letter with a basic history and included the pamphlet "The ABC's of Lyme" to be given to each of her teachers, including guidance counslers. You can get them by emailing to this address: [email protected] they are great about responding. My daughter has given several speeches about lyme in school for different reasons these last few years. She always passes out the pamphlets. They have a lot of good info. for teachers. My daughter goes to Dr. J in CT. He was a big help getting the IEP for her at school. You may have a long road ahead of you. So, be prepared to fight. I feel it was my responsibility and it may help other children later with lyme to educate all of my daughter's teachers. I must say, that after some initial road blocks with some in the school, most of the people have been great and have gone out of their way to be helpful. Good luck.

Thank you Barrie! I am trying to get some info together for his teacher. We live in BC in Canada here, so I am not familiar with IEP or a 504 plan?
He is in Grade 5 this year, and his teacher is 26 years old with a very strict and efficient attitude.(kinda anal for her age if ya ask me lol). So I know that I am in for it with her.
I have already discussed his depression diagnosis and she decided to just take away his recess and lunch privilages if he did not get everything done.
My problem is he gets okay grades, and reads at a 1rst year college level(scares me sometimes! lol) But it's the little things that are problems. Short term memory,concentration,fine motor skills stamina etc...
I am going to have to fight, I know this. Or home school...but I am sick and moody also so I don't know how well that will go over!
