I've been sick with Lyme-like symptoms for about 7 years and finally convinced general practitioner to test me for Lyme.
When tests came back positive, she sent me to an infectious disease doctor who is retesting me. He thinks it was a false positive and put me on minocycline while we wait for new test results.
I feel worse on the antibiotics but am trying to stick it out. Headaches, fatigue and dizziness are about to kill me.
This dr. specializes in sexually transmitted diseases, and I don't think he believes in late stage Lyme. He wouldnt even listen to my symptoms.
Are there any drs in GA that do treat Lyme? I'm near Atlanta.

Thank you for the threads. I've been researching GA and was afraid this would be the case. Ugh.

Perhaps you could write a private message to poster "littlebit27" and ask for the name of the doc she found in NC.
Just click on the envelope icon above her post to write to her privately. Then, she can share names with you.

You may feel worse on minocycline because it is killing the spirochetes. This is called a herxheimer reaction. The other thing it might do is knock down the antibody response, so your next test may be negative. The tests you are getting are antibody tests, looking for the body's response to the infection. This is called indirect testing.

Thankfully, he pulled the second tests before I started the abx. I did a detox bath today and feel extra crappy. Not sure if that helps the diagnosis, but I'd like to think my body is killing off something :-)
