I am new to this site and have been newly diagnosed, or not diagnosed rather, with Lyme disease. The labs I have had completed are positive for Lyme, however, I am also positive for West Nile. I am not sure if this is common or not, but I would love to talk to anyone that has some insight.
I need a LLMD in Colorado, preferably. I can also travel to Texas if there are some there that can see me ASAP. I have a handful of names. The one I prefer cannot see me for 8 months from now. I believe I have early Lyme as my symptoms started 2 months ago and I want to treat it aggressively ASAP.
Can someone recommend the best provider for this? The only provider I can get into ASAP is a naturopathic Dr. and I am also curious if anyone has experience working with them in early Lyme. Also wonder if they prescribe long term antibiotics as an LLMD would? I know they refer to MDs to write the scripts. I am not opposed to homeopathic remedies but dont want to miss an opportunity to clear it completely.

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!
A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.
Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are.
Also, most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":
I was told doctors in CO do not treat aggressively enough, because CO is extremely tough on any doctor who does. The medical board is relentless on them. Posters on Lymenet from CO recommend going out-of-state to see a LLMD.
Please read the following about LLMDs and Texas which was recently posted about TX:
"Texas is not a great place to find a good Lyme doctor. Texas threatens its Lyme doctors and gets them to move or stop practicing without notice.
Then, if they start up again a year or so later, they do it to them again. So, there really are few Lyme doctors there and no top notch ones.
Because of the sorry state of affairs in Texas, many folks from Texas are coming to the East Coast for testing and treatment for Lyme disease and it's co-infections.
At least half of all Lyme patients travel out of state for their care. The doc is the key to the diagnosis and for getting rid of this horrendous disease. I can't emphasize that enough-the doc is the key.
