So sorry to hear about your friend who is ill. Don't know if anyone has considered one or more of the spotted fever groups. The Tidewater area is known to have several and that may increase symptoms. It would also require IMMEDIATE attention (treatment).

The Lyme Doc site also has a listing for good labs (including IGeneX), links to find a naturopathic doctor, acupuncture and oriental medicine doctors too.
Holistic dentists, experts in mold, and even places to avoid are listed there.
