I tried calling Dr. H's office in Hyde Park, NY. They already filled their Medicaid "quota" and they don't accept my other insurance. So, that pretty much means I'm SOL. I requested I be kept on the waiting list... even if it means years before I get in. She kept saying it will be quite a long time. Well, some time is better than never.
I also called Dr. B in Southhampton. Doesn't accept my insurance.
Dr. JJ doesn't accept my insurance. Neither does Dr. S in the same area.
I live in Western NY state. I'm willing to travel anywhere. PLEASE HELP!!!!

How about Glen Mills, PA or Hermitage, PA? or West Chester, PA?

I'm clear on the other side of the country. but I'm thinking your best bet is to contact the local support groups. We often know of local doctors who are willing to take on a few patients who have needy circumstances, but are not the doctors that are on all the big lists.
It sounds like this is what you will need in your situation. I would contact as many groups as are withing a few hours drive, to give you the best shot at a good doctor.
Sometimes your ehalth insurance will pay so much for out of network drs.
Mine pays 80%...better than nothing! YOu only habe to have visits every 2-3 months if you tell them your situationa t the drs. office...
dr.h is the best..

Dear Ma,
When a doctor's office says they don't accept this or that kind of insurance......mosty what that means is that they DON'T FILE IT for you.
As daniella has said......most insurance will pay something for out of network doctors. The main pain is simply that you have to pay up front...take the "super bill", as they are called, and file it with your insurance yourself.
Some doctors will even agree to bill you for latter payment.
There is hope.....keep up the calls and research. Getting that LLMD on board is the most difficult task.....once that set....it's all uphill from there.
