Welcome to LymeNet Pharmamomma ( intriguing name)

You can request a LLMD through Global Lyme Alliance here;
https://www.globallymealliance.org/lyme-patient-support/find-medical-professional/

You can request a LLMD through ILADS (International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society) here;
https://www.ilads.org/patient-care/provider-search/

These are simple e-mail formats that you fill out and they respond with LLMD’s closest to you. You must research each referral. To do this, google for patient reviews or join your local Lyme Support Group. Support groups have dedicated volunteers with first hand experiences of LLMD’s in your area.

Here’s some Support Groups to check out;

Alabama Lyme Support
https://www.facebook.com/groups/318779898210307/about/

Alabama Tick Coalition . (Birmingham)
https://rawlsmd.com/lyme-support/united-states/alabama/alabama-tick-disease-awareness-coalition

Most LLMD’s don’t participate with insurances.
Your 1st appointment will be the most expensive and the longest in duration. It’s best to be prepared to streamline your appointment to save money. Here’s how;

https://www.tiredoflyme.com/how-to-prepare-for-your-first-llmd-or-llnd-appointment.html

Also, be sure to utilize LymeNet’s ‘search’ function located in the middle of the home page. It contains the most comprehensive information on TBI’s (Tick Born Infections) symptoms, diagnosis’s and treatments, all generously provided by fellow Lyme sufferers.

You have to be your own HEALTHCARE advocate.
Research as much as you can as it’s a very complicated disease.
You can post any questions you have in the open forum and a member will respond with their experiences.

Unfortunately I have only one LLMD in Alabama.
I will send you a private message.
Healing wishes on your health journey.

Welcome to Lymenet! I don't know of any in AL. PM sent for MO, IN & FL.

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.

Here is a link for them:

http://www.lymenet.org/BurrGuide200810.pdf

LLMDs are far and few between, unfortunately. You need to go where they are.

Also, most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":
http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=025539;p=0

When calling for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list (call every day if you have to!). Patients have been able to get in sooner by doing this.

Contact the AL Lyme Support Groups - they would know better about AL.

https://www.lymenet.org/SupportGroups/UnitedStates/Alabama/

Read the books written by the top LLMD, Dr. H, titled, "Why Can't I Get Better?" and "How Can I Get Better?". They are an excellent source of information.

Also read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Get it at your local library or buy it used online.
