Hello All -
I'm sorry to report that every Lyme friendly Doc or LLMD office that I've spoken with is CLOSED to taking on any new Lyme patients. Now, I'm sure there may be an obscure one out there that I don't know about (and would like to know), but the ones in Bedford & Houston are not taking any more newbies.
The one in East TX, however, is still taking new patients as of this writing. Don't know how long this will last, but, if you need help, better hurry. You can send private message to me for further details, or, I know there are others on this board with the info.

The Texas Medical Board (TMB) has had an anti-Lyme posture for some time, but this latest round of persecution traces directly to the state constitutional amendment added in the recent past to limit medical malpractice punitive damage awards.
The trade off to compensate for the public's safety was to increase the authority of the TMB. A legislative assistant told me just this week that the TMB has been so active that they are operating well into the red for the fiscal year now ending.
Physicians from all parts of the state and all practice areas are being called on the TMB carpet.
And what did this well intentioned change in law accomplish? The liability insurance underwriters won since they don't have the high pay-outs in malpractice cases. The Docs are still paying high rates and thier fees certainly haven't been reduced. And, now patients can't get treated, not because the Docs fear a suit, but because they are in absolute fear of the TMB going after them for not following 'community standards' which are defined on the fly by the TMB as needed to take a Doc out.
Good intentions and bad law, dictated by the insurance industry, and implemented by political apointees - the TMB.
Texans, write your state senators and representatives!

Rose,
Glad to hear this. However, it seems that each time I call Dr. ofc, I tend to get a different answer - First yes, then, no.
Happy that you found help. Guess others will have to keep trying.

Hey guys, help! I just got a login to the forum this morning so I'm a newbie. Patience please. Can someone email me w/ some names of these LLMDs in TX (regardless of whether you think they are taking new patients or not)? I'll do the calling to check and see. Opinions on the docs welcome also. Thanks Much!

Ping, I must have left the impression that I only recently began seeing this doctor. Actually, I've been a very grateful patient for 12 years; my husband for 10.
I posted this response after talking to my doctor personally and asking whether or not he was taking new patients, and the answer was "Yes."
I know there are times when he is, and times when he isn't. It's always best to check with the office periodically. Rose, D/FW area

Pink, would you send me a private message, pm, 2 people standing together, with the details for E. Texas LLMD seeing patients.
Their name/address/phone no. I'm 1 of 4 people helping newbies/oldies find LLMDs.
Do you have good/bad recommendations on this LLMD?
Rose, good to see you on the board! Thanks for your input as well. Bettyg
