Just received this. No idea what Dr. H & Dr. B will do.
It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the closing of our practice, effective July 31, 2007. In the last two years Dr. M has had two heart attacks, blood clots to his lung, and an episode of blood stream infection. Although there has been no recurrence of the ALS, he does not have sufficient stamina to maintain the practice, and the possibility of another life-threatening event is ever-present. No other provider in the practice is able to pick up additional time should Dr. M try to cut back, and we have been unable to attract new providers.

I just received the letter today. I talked to Dr. M on the very day that letter went out. I am shocked, saddened and a bit scared as I don't know where to go.
They did say in the letter they are seeking other Lyme literate physicians who might accept referrals from them and that they will let us know about this later.
What a shock! But Dr. M does appear a bit frail so I can't blame him for needing to quit.

Oh, this is not good. I'm so sorry to hear of Doc M's health troubles.
I didn't even know Doc B. was still there? I wonder if Drs. H. and B. will "carry on" and stay in practice. (?)
If anybody finds out anything, please post it... somewhere. Thanks -
Tracy

I just talked today to the pharmacy that Dr. M's practice uses and they are unsure whether they will be able to stay in business with the closure of what must be their biggest client.
This closure goes farther than one doctor retiring and his patients having to find a new doctor.
I am hoping they can find some way to keep their doors open to at least their existing patients. But that is not what the latest news says.
Makes one wonder if all the stupid things that go on in the background of this medical condition might not be a factor in this.

Thanks for the added info....
Makes me wonder what kind of "pressures" from the state the other docs might be experiencing....? I don't know if we would necessarily hear about that....
This is pretty awful.
