I have found an LLMD in NJ...Dr. S in Howell...and am now seeking a primary doc, i.e., one who acutally takes insurance so I can get at least some of the care paid for. I have New Jersey Plus (Horizon) Does anyone know of a good primary doc who might be open to working with our LLMD. Our current PMD, despite having been the one to order the WB for my daughter and despite stating that she has Lyme Disease is now backing away and saying she probably just has depression...he was willing to order the IVs at one time, but now, Im not so sure.
Thanks, Ellen

Can you submit Dr. S's charges to your insurance for reimbursement? Do they do anything for out-of-network doctors?
We also see Dr. S and, once we meet our deductible, we get 70% back. We have Horizon BC/BS of NJ.

Thanks for writing back. I have NJPLUS, which is a Horizon PPO, so yes, we can submit Dr. S's charges and get some of it reimbursed...Have you had any need for IV antibiotics? Im concerned about the cost of something like that...I can pay a few hundred here and there...but I got the impression that its in the 1,000's for a course of IV's..you know, the piccline insertion, infusion nurse...althjough I assume the abx themselves are covered under the Rx plan

elle, i know nothing about picc, etc. but saw your statement,
"i assume abx are covered"!
i've learned the HARD way; do not assume anything with our illness and insurance companies!
verify it personally with them, GET IT IN WRITING IF POSSIBLE, and document ALL CALLS w/date, time, who you talked to, and type the comments as you talk! i can't read my writing and can type faster than write.

Thanks for the suggestion, Betty...I will check...but all the more reason I'd love to find a primary doc in NJ who takes my insurance and is Lyme friendly to work with my LLMD Dr. S
