Hello. I'm so relieved to find this website, if only I had discovered it sooner. I'm a 35 year old woman who was first diagnosed with/treated for Lyme almost 19 years several months after discovering a tick embedded in my back. Now all these years later I find myself suffering terribly, much worse than the first time around. I'm trying to locate a doctor anywhere in the NJ area, including NY and Philly.

The symptoms started (or came back) a few years ago, but were much different than the ones I had when I was 16. They include:
Facial pain, ear pain & headaches(every day); joint pain; neck pain & stiffness; swollen glands; tingling in my extremeties; muscle fatigue; general fatigue & malaise; abdominal problems; respiratory/cardiovascular problems; agitation; difficulty concentrating; memory problems. Not to mention being treated like a hypochondriac by my colleagues at work.

Been seen by an allergist, ENT, neurologist, primry care, all over the last few years. At one point they told me it was Epstein Barr, at another time Multiple Sclerosis. Recenty begged my ENT to do a Western Blot and sure enough it showed positive.

Hope this wasn't too long, your help is greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry you've suffered this long. Maybe one day about a hundred years from now, doctors will know better!!

Thanks, I've received all the PM's. Everyone has been so wonderful, so helpful. For the first time in a long time I feel optimistic. But I know it's a long road, I remember (vaguely as that is another effect this stupid disease has had on me) from almost 20 years ago how difficult it was.
There is a lot of information here and it is a bit overwhelming, but I'm so very grateful I found this site.
