Hi everyone,

I live in NC and after fifteen years of being diagnosed with ME/CFS, i recently found out I have Lyme.

I became ill while living in NC and my symptoms include severe neurological problems with photophobia, hyperacusis, brainfog, and migraines.

The migraines are what really do me in, making it impossible to go outside or under fluorescent lights for more than one or two minutes at a time.

I have just started seeing a LLMD in NC. He has a good reputation with Lymies.

However, when it comes to IV antibiotics, it appears that if he treats me, my costs will be far greater than anyone else's I've seen on this board.

He has a good reputation, but it worries me that he will only allow me to buy the IV drugs and supplies from him, at a cost of $6000 - $12,000 per month.

I noticed in the sticky at the top that some people are buying their own ABx and only paying $600-1300 per month.

Does anyone know of a LLMD on the eastern seaboard who is willing to prescribe the generic rocephin that people are posting about?

I live in NC but I am willing to travel 8-10 hours if it can save me thousands of dollars per month.

Or do you think I am being naive? Is this what everybody pays except for those in California??

Thanks so much, everybody. I will appreciate even the tiniest bit of info.

peace and good health to all

thanks, phyllis! I'll check it out.

Also, I can go to West Virginia or even Columbus, OH if anyone knows any LLMDs there.

that seems EXCESSIVE, but i've never been on iv abx!! those who have emailed you know the best, plus the one post on top of MEDICAL talking about this stuff ok!!

try this also!

Please go to SUPPORT GROUPS, left-hand side column by state.
CALL the nearest group leader for advise.
Do NOT email; many are too sick to reply; thanks!

People seeking doctors in certain states might be able to
get help from their state online information and support group. Over 1200
people belong to these state groups. Many of the groups are small
but quite a few have 20 or more people on them.

To find your state group, go to
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/statenamelyme

Type your state name and lyme as one word, e.g. newyorklyme

For SC, SD, ND and WY, put a hyphen between the statename
and lyme, e.g. northdakota-lyme

The groups are moderated so you have to apply, and we don't
allow doctor names, but once on the group, you can ask for doctors in a certain area and ask people to email you privately.

you can check out the other state's web sites that phyllis created!! very helpful! [group hug] [kiss]

thanks, betty!

I will check out the yahoo site. I've been fortunate -- several wonderful people have given me some leads. And I was able to email a support group leader in my state.

Everyone, I appreciate your help.

I hope everyone gets well.
