Requested LLMD referral from son's pedi. Basically shot down although son has been sick for almost 2 years now. Tested positive May '07, was misdiagnosed though he had the rash in Sept. '06.
Has dealt with arthritis, most recent symptoms are visual hallucinations/tingling sensations in face & headaches. Has been vomiting for almost 2 years now.
Seen many "ologists" no answers. Has had EEG, having MRI Sept 3rd, tonsils out Oct. 9th.
Pedi's response when I asked for a referral to LLMD was son was "adequately treated" and that you have to be careful to "not over-treat".
Wants son to stay at well-known hospital for children in Boston, now sending us to an infectious disease specialist. Pedi dismissed idea son could have co-infection.
I'm frustrated, sad for my son. Why the refusal to treat this? Pedi said of visual hallucinations that "sometimes we never know why".
My son is only 5 years old, this is the last hoop I'm hopping through. Referral or not, insurance pay/or not, going to an LLMD if I can't resolve this soon. Scared and tired...
