I'm 27 and got a positive WB test in June. My PCP gave me a referral to an infectious disease specialist(I'm not quite sure if this is different with Lyme Literal MD) and she diagnosed me and told me that she doubts that I'm having it. My PCP had already given me 3 weeks worth of Doxy and when I visited the specialist I had taken about half of that. The specialist didn't believe I had lyme disease so I stopped taking Doxycylcline and instead took a blood test for IgM level and I'm still waiting for that result. The thing is, I think I'm having several symptoms similar to the Lyme disease symptoms but this specialist wouldn't take them serious when I told her. I'd like to get a second opinion from another Lyme disease specialist and make sure that if I have it, I'm not letting it become a chronic one.
thanks very much in advance.

Infectious disease specialists are by no means Lyme specialists and are a far cry from lyme literate MDs (usually). My infectious disease specialist thought lyme was cured after 3 weeks of antibiotics. I ask him why I am in wheelchair and he shrugs. Testing is not very accurate for many reasons, so do not put too much faith in the labwork. Find someone that will treat you because you are clinical- plain and simple. Good luck!

I sent you the name of a good Baltimore area lyme doc.
Your experience with the infectious disease doc is typical. I saw one who didn't believe I had lyme either, in spite of a positive test. The IDs don't ever believe anyone has lyme. They say our positive tests are "false positives."
