My daughter was dx'd June 2008 and is with a LLMD (out of network - out of pocket). She can't handle oral ABX and needs a PICC line for 3 mos. IV abx.
PCP can't order this and wants to send her to a ID doctor. Anyone with ID doctor name who is open to Lyme Therapy IV for 3 mos in Orange County - So. Ca.?

I would contact the Support Group for the LA area, they must know of someone open to this, plus they have LLMD info available.

The Southern California leader is very nice.

Recommend you join the CaliforniaLyme on-line support group:

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/CaliforniaLyme/

There are members in your area who can tell you about doctors.

Also, the California Lyme Disease Association website maintains a list of support groups throughout the state. Check for one in your area:

Betty - Hi
My daughter is 25. She works and is in the local University Master's program. Most days she is running on empty, I really don't know how she does it all - and stays on the Dean's List!!!
She has this summer off. It would be an ideal time to get her some help. She can't tolerate oral abx, developed an ulcer. Her LLMD is 2 hours away - thought our PCP could Rx the PICC Line --- NOPE
Our HMO procol says my daughter must see a ID doctor. Of course - there's no point unless the ID doctor follows ILAD guidelines - right?
But I can't find one - soooo is this where people give up?

Meg and jbral

When trying to access the Doctor Referral it tell me I need to "enable cookies".
My husband tells me not to do this. So far - our email is pretty clean - no junk mail.
Why do I have to enable cookies?

peedie,

about the dr. referral site, go to top of this forum, and click on JENIFER'S name; she's lymenet.org's WEBMASTER, and copy your above there to her.

i honestly don't think you will find any idsa dr. to be an iv to be covered.

so this is when you begin the plight of many here on this board....finding a LLMD, and PAYING OUT OF POCKET for treatments, etc.

that's why so many here have lost:

jobs, health insurance, spouses, custody of kids to spouse, their homes, bankruptcy, and the ultimate loss ... gave up of living and SUICIDE to releave their pain.
