Hi everyone,

Looks like Klempner's reputation is getting more tarnished every day. The sunshine-project, which monitors biowarfare research and its effects on human health, has filed a FOIA request to ascertain more facts about the tularemia escape at Mark Klempner's state-of-the-art billion dollar biowarfare Center of Excrements (sorry - Excellence).

The CDC have been keeping his secrets for him about all this. You see, they feel it compromises the American public's security if they find out what a balls-up Klempner has made of security at his Boston lab, which handles some of the most dangerous pathogens in the world. People will be much more secure, if they have no idea how insecure things are.

i hope you are all following this, because I'm not. : )

I guess the CDC-Klempner partnership worked well in keeping Lymies in the dark too.

After all, if we don't get told that Lyme is a nasty disease that persists in many people even after antibiotics, we'll never worry , will we?? (Grrrrr!)

Boston University Lab-Acquired Tularemia:
FOIA Appeal to Overturn CDC Secrecy

(Austin, 11 March) - After being denied basic information about the laboratory-acquired tularemia infections at Boston University by the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Sunshine Project today filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Appeal with CDC's parent agency, the US Department of Health and Human Services. Laboratory-acquired infections and other accidental or deliberate releases of biological weapons agents pose a major risk to public health and there is an urgent need to clarify activities of the federal government related to permissions to handle such agents.

The leaders of the Boston University (BU) tularemia project have been publicly identified by HHS, BU, and the media; but CDC is refusing to reveal when the scientists were first permitted to handle virulent tularemia. CDC says the reason why is that revealing anything about the researchers' federal permits poses a bioterrorist threat. "CDC's argument is breathtakingly backwards," says Sunshine Project Director Edward Hammond, "The threat that this request is about has nothing to do with foreign terrorists. Rather, it is the threat posed by the release of biological weapons agents from biodefense labs, a danger palpably proven by Boston University's microbiological mess."

CDC's response confirms what many feared about new US bioterrorism law: that it would be invoked to prevent release of information of high public interest and zero security value that is requested by citizens and public interest organizations concerned about biological safety and public accountability. Says Hammond, "We've explained to HHS why release of this information poses no security threat and does not violate the Bioterrorism Act. Unless HHS reverses its secretive position, many will conclude that the real target of CDC's implementation of the Bioterrorism Act is the public's right to know."

The Sunshine Project filed its FOIA request on January 22nd. CDC replied by fax on January 31st; but didn't formally deny the expedited request until a letter received on February 14th. The appeal was filed today.

Count me in as a supporter of the sunshiners.

If Klempner would do what he did to us, what won't he do?

Wow!

Talk about yer conflict of interest.

I can't believe someone with these ties would be allowed to perform and publish the faulty study he did which is taken as gold standard for efficacy of Lyme treatment.

This really isn't that unusual in medicinal science.

Take Dr. Bryzinski from Houston for example-he takes cancer patients that have effectively been told by their doctor's to go home and die. He cure's up to 70% of them without chemo, or radiation. The FDA has hounded this man for years.

There are several instances of doctors/scientists making miraculous breakthroughs only to be hounded out of practice. Medicine is a monopoly, and anything that endangers that, must be summarily dismissed.

Some of the founders of our country wanted to include medical treatment in the Constitution, because they knew a monopoly would soon exist. How right they were.

But Dr Bry has also been responsible for deaths with his treatment.

Compared to the 150,000 deaths attributable to negligence in mainstream medicine, annually ?

Dr. Bry has also given life to numerous people who were handed a death sentence by mainstream practitioners. Apparently, the powers that be have deemed it "okay" if you die at the hands of mainstream medicine, but let one homeopathic practitioner cause injury, and the sky is falling.

Read Dr. Lorraine Day's book on how she cured herself of cancer, because being a mainstream doc herself, she knew the odds of surviving chemo or radiation.

There are brilliant researchers all over the world who've made breakthroughs in cancer research. They're either dismissed as crackpots or destroyed professionally. Cancer treatment is big business !

I'm almost in belief that the food industry and the medical community are in cahoots. We'll poison the food, you treat them for our recklessness. BTW, the same companies that run the food industry have large stakes in the pharmaceutical industry. These corporations employ the same board of director's for multiple companies.

Studies have shown that Eskimo's, Mediterranean's, Japanese, etc., have a much lower incidence of heart disease. Why ? Omega 3 in seal blubber, olive oil, and a rich seafood diet.

When was the last time a doctor you know who practiced mainstream recommended that you eat a couple cloves of garlic, or put oat bran in your diet to reduce cholesterol ?

Of course, they only receive kickbacks when they prescribe lipitor, and a ton of other drugs that no one knows the real long-term ramifications of.

It's a monopoly, pure and simple. I don't believe there's a conspiracy against lyme patients, but lymies challenge this status quo.

Thinking outside the box with extended abx treatment, especially after so many of their own insurance company lackey Doc's claimed it was easily cured, and any lingering symptoms were due to mental imbalance.

They do this with a whole host of illnesses, not just lyme. AIDS patients realized they were being handed a death sentence in the 80's and 90's, and threw caution to the wind, to save their lives. The squeaky wheel always gets the grease. Once lymies learn this, they'll get the treatment they deserve as well.

The medical establishment can be shaken out of their doldrums, it's happened before, and it'll happen with lyme. Lymies are becoming to numerous to ignore. The sheer numbers will eventually force change and recognition of this disease for what it really is, and how pandemic it's become. Unfortunately, tens of thousands will suffer in the interim.

No, you're not naive.

Alerting Congressmen may not change things overnight, but IMO we have every right to question why Klempner's article is still being used as justification to deny Lyme patients treatment, when it has become absolutely clear that he is 100% dishonest, playing Russian roulette with the lives of millions of Boston residents (see all the coverage of the scandal in the Boston Globe).

ILADS have on their website (www.ilads.org)an excellent article pointing out all the flaws in his crooked study. Copies of that could be sent to congressmen and to the journalists that are covering the scandal over his biowar lab.

No, I don't think you are being naive.

Writing congressmen may not change things overnight. But why shouldn't we highlight the fact Lyme patients are being denied treatment because of the writings of a man who is now proven to be 100% dishonest, so dishonest he was willing to endanger the lives of millions of Boston residents by covering up the security lapses in the tularemia section of his lab?

ILADS have an excellent rebuttal to the Klempner study on their website at:
http://www.ilads.org/position2.html

That could be printed off and sent to congressmen and to the journalists who have been covering the Klempner lab scandal(there's been plenty of coverage in the Boston Globe, for example).

This is an excellent idea ! Even if somebody could write a letter to the editor of the Boston Globe, stating Klempner's incompetence with lyme research, it throws more fuel on the fire.

Ultimately, anyone who cites this man in the future will be discredited. I believe this is an excellent opportunity to start discrediting those, who have destroyed so many lives.

NP - Have you ever read the book "The Politics of Cancer?" My hair stood straight on end at the contents of this book. Don't know why I hadn't come up with these connections on my own beforehand. Certainly have had enough cancer in the family to know the facts, draw the conclusions.

Where the cancer rate a hundred years ago was much lower, now it is one of three people. This is a speeding freight train rushing down on us. But the treatments are no better than they were decades ago.

They keep on trying to make all illnesses genetic, including cancer. Well, genes don't change that fast, to account for the huge increase in cancer cases in a relatively short period of time.

Makes lyme look like small potatoes, or maybe part of a big snarl in medicine that people just don't know about. And the authorities sure aren't rocking the boat, just keep on doing the same old things. Did you see the article in Forbes magazine (or was it Fortune?) with the title "We are losing the war on cancer." A bit surprising that an establishment magazine would blow the whistle.

It turns out that the American Cancer Society doesn't spend much of the big bucks they collect on cancer research. They have big administrative budget instead. They also have not supported legislation to reduce exposure of American workers to toxic substances, etc.

I could go on and on with what I learned from this book. It was really shocking. The author is a university professor in the field of occupational health.

Kinda got off the Klempner subject, but all of this is sort of tied together in the sense that much goes on medical science that is unsavory. Not what people expect from science, which is supposed to be the search for truth.

Lyme could be one of the leading causes of cancer, in a way. Anyone had their immune system tested lately? I highly recommend taking excellent care of it, and staying on treatment of ABX. Lyme EATS your t cells and destroys your immune system, NK cells etc...which is what protects us from cancer.
Seriously folks, the WHO will always tell us every year the biggest problem on the face of the plantet is over population, so this is just population control..what better way than Lyme beyond a horrid outbreak of a fast death disease....

I disagree that Bb was engineered or spread as a form of population control. If someone wanted to reduce a population they would use an agent known for its rapid lethal effect, or fast-acting sterilisation.

Neverthelss it's clear that borreliosis was, and is, of keen interest to the military. A fantastic proportion of the Steere camp researchers have a background in biowarfare and/or elite military units. I would guess Lyme's qualities as an incapacitant, rather than as a population reducer, were what interested them. Don't you think?

After all, if Klempner wanted to kill us all off, why not just use some of that genetically engineered plague he developed a couple of decades ago:

"...To probe this environment, we have used Yersinia pestis [plague], whose expression of several virulence attributes is highly dependent on the Ca2+ concentration in its growth environment. We first genetically engineered a strain of Y. pestis .... Using this mutant organism as a relevant biological probe, we demonstrate here that the calcium concentration in Y. pestis-containing phagolysosomes is sufficiently low to permit virulence gene expression."

Klempner et al, in Nature 1986 Aug 28-Sep 3;322(6082):834-6.
