I'm being treated for lyme(neurologic dysfunction) and four or five coinfections (bartenele, babs, and two types of erlichioses are definite) with ketek and mepron. I was undiagnosed for a year and subsequently treated by a previous doc with abx for another year but have recently started treatment a leading LLMD.
After six weeks of being on 400 mg. of ketek, mepron, and one dose of doryx which I tolerated, I was upgraded to 800m. A week after I started that dose, I now developed stomach problems,(diarreah and neausea) despite the many probiotics I take. The doc took me off ketek for three days and then I'm supposed to restart and pulse with weekends off. I am still taking mepron and one dose of Doryx a day. (the doryx is for another condition which I have to treat permanently.) How does one deal with abx when stomach problems get in the way- and I have a weak stomach to begin with. Any advice? I'm depressed that my health is failing, and am afraid that I will never get better. I'm suffering from Lyme since 2003. Any words of wisdom or encouragement?

Hi Talktel,
I understand your dilemma. I am having a similar problem.
Was on Ketek 800mg for four months, no problem, then suddenly, diarrhea.
I can cope with 400mg but when I try to increase, so far the diarrhea comes right back.
(I take a ton of probiotics also).
Perhaps you could try ramping up to 400mg and a tiny bit more each day and see if that works.
Sorry. Don't have a good answer, but if you get one and that works, let me know please.
