This was probably the worst experiance with a doctor that I've ever had-- almost as bad as the neurologist who laughed at me.

Today I was in a great mood. I was more happy and friendly and outgoing, than I've been in months.

After school was my appointment, which I was looking foward to as I knew that maybe my pain would be helped.

So, first, the nurse talked to me and asked me some questions. One of them was to make sure that it was okay that they could tell my mom everything. But I said no, and that I wanted them to ask me before talking to her.

But it was useless because my 'mom' stayed with me even though I told her numerous times that I didn't want her there.

The doctor came into the room and sat down. He didn't look happy. I could tell by the way he was looking at me that he believed that nothing was wrong with me since I'm so young.

I was right. I told him that my main concern was that I had really, really, really extreme stomach pain. I wasn't sure when the pain happens because I have never really tracked it, although I know that my period triggered it.

My 'mom' told him that I got a pelvic sonogram that turned out normal. He said that since the sonogram was normal there COULDN'T POSSIBLY be anything gynecologically wrong with me.

Who does he think he is? Did he sleep through his 4+ years of medical school? I didn't talk to the guy for 2 minutes yet, and he thinks he knows me and what my pain is like!

He said that I could go to a surgeon, but they wouldn't know what to do with me. I was thinking, "DUH. What's a surgeon supposed to do with me if I don't have a diagnosis?"

Then he said that there was PROBABLY NOTHING WRONG WITH ME and my 'mom' agreed.

How could anyone be so insensitive and mean? They don't know how I feel! They don't know what hell I go through every day. They don't care.

----------------------

I specifically told him that I had been treated for a yeast infection 4 times in the past 2 months: Diflucan twice, Monistat, and some other stuff.

He told me to take Diflucan again and to see him in 2 weeks. I refuse to take the medecine and I will NEVER ever see him again. Ever.

----------------------

Doctors like him make me extremely mad. What if he told someone who unknowingly had cancer that there was nothing wrong? That worries me!

I am in such a bad mood. I'm going to go. I'll come back when I feel better.

Have you ever had a pap smear?

Our alligator pit must be getting close to full with all of these ducks we keep throwing in.

I am sorry you had such a bad day.

It is bad enough to be sick, but to be patronized on top of it....

I am sending you calming thoughts and healing prayers for your stomach pain.

Hugs,

Geneal

Could you get a second opinion?

If you have pain that is something you should not ignore. I personally have gone through a couple of OBGYN docs, until I finally found someone that understands my treatment.

Having lyme and being a women is a double whammy. Keep going until you find a doc that listens.

ugh gynos are the worst dr out there.

ive been emotionally abused by them since getting sick.

one even put in the office notes due to anxiety i could not get an exam, PAIN was NOT even mentioned and that is the reason i could not get exam. i have severly tight pelvic muscles...and this NP put anxiety.

hang in there, and find another gyno. maybe try a urogynecologist....they are usually much better then the baby obgyns

Most of my symptoms are in my pelvis.

Ugh, sorry Victoria!

I went around and around with the gyno-ducks for years. They kept treating me for yeast infections. Monistat and them more Monistat. This was when I was a teenager and they hadn't invented Diflucan yet. Man, I was gushy a lot. [Razz]

I finally found a woman Gyn that knew how to work a microscope and actually bothered to look. She identified a bacterial infection and I was treated sucessfully. Ta dah, all the ducks never bother to test for something bacterial, bunch of lazy Monistat pushers.

3 years later I had another bacterial infection and she was able to pin it down again, different infection completely. They have never returned. Woohoo! I have other gyn problems but I think they are more related to being older. I just hit 50, yikes!

I have another gyn that's good now. It took years again but the are out there. I think it took me 4 or 5 to find the good one.

Hang in there and I hope the next one is the real doc.

[group hug]

Well I have been recently diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) beforethe Lyme.

It causes a lot of pain becauseyou get cysts on your ovaries among a lot of other things. I would reccomend an ultrasound.

As far as GYN's go my theory is this:

If you do not have ovaries, a uterus, and a vagina, you will not be taking care of mine. LOL

Check out this website for PCOS it has symptoms etc...

I am so sorry you had to have this experience.

There are MANY MANY things that are NOT seen on a sonogram--particularly in the GYN world.

yeast or as Trueblue said BACTERIA in the vagina
PID (pelvic inflammitory disease)
endomtriosis
adhesions

any of which could give you symptoms that you describe.

Is there any way for you to go to another GYN? They arent all bad, but lots of them are. this one in particular sounds AWFUL though.
