Anyone ever had hives after iv rocephin treatments? I was told to take benadryl 50 mg. 30 minutes before my iv. I have been doing that but i still get the hives.

do you think it is allergic reaction or herx???

has anyone ever had this???

I have waited so long to get this med and then this happens.

thank you for your response!

Jayne,

Our daughter has been infusing Rocephin for over a year now. Immediately after her first infusion, she broke out in hives, itched all over and her breathing became labored.

She first took oral Benadryl, then she started infusing 50mg of Benadryl and now is up to infusing 100mg Benadryl prior to each Rocephin infusion.

The Rocephin has been a real help to her recovery and the Benadryl is not that expensive. See if you can get your LLMD to prescribe it for you.
