There is a new free trade, eco friendly store near me. I decided to stop in to do some holiday shopping.

They had some smelly things in the store and now I have a headache. Stupid smelly store!

I'm wondering if they were burning soy candles, since they sell them. I'm allergic to soy and it gives me headaches that last a minimum of 24 hours.

I emailed them as soon as I got home suggesting they not have such strong smells as they lost a customer because of it. Guess it's back to internet shopping for me.

Some of these places defeat the purpose of "green". Candle aromas have their own kind of pollution.

We burn candles that contain essential oils. For some reason, they don't get me worked up.

talking about "smelly" things!

i've been calling YOUNKERS DEPT. STORE, DES MOINES, IOWA AND WISC. HQ for 2-3 years about ALL THE "PERFUME" samples they stick in our local and Des Moines newspapers. they stink up entire paper.

once even talked with the pres. of younkers!

anyway, we finally have a half-way solution!

their advetising director mails me a letter with the DATES OF EACH NEWSPAPER THEY ARE PUTTING IN THEIR PERFUME SAMPLES.

so i bring them in; get the STINKY stuff out, and throw it OUTSIDE back door promptly to go to garbage can!

our local newspaper circulation director was once PAYING $$ to newspaper kid to REMOVE it before he delivered it to me!

as i enter younkers dept. storre in our local mall, it's the same thing...PERFUME RIGHT UP FRONT IN MIDDLE OF STORE! no way to escape the awful smells, and you betcha! I HAVE COMPLAINED!

didn't mean to hijack your post; just adding more SMELLY thoughts your way! [cussing]

Argghhh!!! As someone with severe MCS, I feel for you. It's amazing how clueless stores can be. There is a store near me that sells organic tampons that are sitting RIGHT NEXT TO cans of Off Bug Spray!

At one point, I wrote a letter to them saying, doesn't it defeat the purpose of selling an organic item by putting it right next to PESTICIDES and they still didn't move the tampons. Amazing.

And so many people get sick from stinky candles. You would think that stores -- esp. eco-conscious stores -- would catch on.
