I am a singer, and have always been a singer. For the last few years my singing has been reserved just for the church choir.
In the past, I have been involved in Community Theater that did just musicals, as well as a Madrigal Group that performed around the county.
About 6 weeks ago, I started rehearsing with a group to take part in "Sing for the Cure". It's a Relay for Life event that includes narrative and songs about breast cancer survivors.
The rehearsals have been once or twice a week, with the performance scheduled for tomorrow evening.
I've survived so far - even though on rehearsal nights I get very little, if any, sleep. But, it is just so nice to be able to get out and do something other than just going to work and then coming home to crash.
Anyone else a singer and miss being able to get out? Any help on how to relax after a rehearsal? I usually read for a couple of hours, sometimes take a hot bath or listen to relaxing music (to get the songs out of my head).

Music! What a joy to the soul.
I love it and would miss it dearly if I couldn't participate! Of course my participation is wiggling and jiggling... with a little funky chicken in their too... not the dance actually, but the description used when someone sees this act of madness...
But.. I am so glad you can bring joy into your heart and into the heart of others again.
I am sorry I have no hints other than what I use to do in my younger days... WAY younger... when getting off a night shift and being ramped up to go another 10 miles... and needed to get to sleep.
We went out to eat breakfast... chat and laugh. By the time we got there, ate, and drove home.. the rush was about done and we could all sleep.
But.. I hesitate to even mention it... because I hope you will take that happy time and absorb it into your memory and be thankful you have such a great gift.

Cool!! I'm not a really good singer, but I get to sing in our choir and in on our contemporary praise team.
I really enjoy the praise team singing the most!
How about a warm bath to relax after a performance?
Keep it up! It keeps you young!!

I've recently joined a new choir at my church called Praise Hymn Voices. We do mostly praise music, but weave in the more traditional so as not to shock some of the congregation too much!
We are led by our praise band worship leader and i am really enjoying being a part of the group. i still sit to sing because i run out of breath before the song ends otherwise.
