Lyme sucks. It's taken me this long to be able to post again as I couldn't figure out passwords and how to access the site again.

I have been keeping up with the posts and can't tell you how much you all have helped me along this quicksand journey of chronic lyme.

I wanted to let you know that although the past year has been horrific - one good thing, a miracle really, has happened to me.

I have just been approved for SSDI after only 3 months!!! It can happen and I wanted you all to know that the links on disability preparation and letters from loved ones and Senatorial intervention moves the process along so much faster.

I am blessed but still ill........lost my high paying job due to this illness, went through most of my savings in the last year and then this miracle happened!

SSDI can't replace a real livelihood, and I will likely have to sell my home soon.......but I'm feeling positive again.....and haven't for a long time.

Bless you all.....hope to catch up with my old friends and new friends again soon.

:-)

Azure and Meg.......thanks so much for welcoming me back.

I too am astounded how quickly my appeal was granted! So sick for so long I lost my career as I just couldn't do it anymore due to lyme. I was traveling the world on business and crawling through airports at my darkest points. But kept going like most of us do...........until we crash.

Thank God I got a brain spect scan done which showed my brain had been affected by lyme........and that when I contacted my State Senator's office in PA, they rallied for me.

Takes a lot of documentation, but I've had years of physical problems. Docs backed me up and husband and friends wrote letters for me......saying who I was before vs. who I am now.

It's surely a miracle that SSDI now recognizes chronic lyme as a true disability.

We're getting there all.........don't lose hope!

Thanks all!

It really floored me when the award came through right after my SSDI physical.

The doc was so nice and it turns out he knew my primary who first diagnosed me. He told me she is highly respected and was tender with me during the physical.

The brain spect definitely helped.

It's funny, I think I was in the right place at the right time. My Senator's office worked with me to get I think called "congressional interest" noted on my file.

And the adjudicator at SSDI was super to me. In fact, she told me right before we spoke they had a meeting about lyme and said it now is recognized so I shouldn't fear immediate rejection.

Betty....I really don't know what I was approved for in the end. I put on my application all of my ailments and diagnoses before the lyme id.

In my past life, I was a VP for a global marketing services firm. Traveling was pretty constant and always stressful. I hid my disease for years before I finally couldn't anymore.

Thanks so much for all of the support you shared!

Hey there! WElcome back! You just love long names, huh! Hope your password is short and sweet! We don't want you to lose it again!!

That's so awesome that you got SSDI. I'm amazed that Lyme is now on the list!

I got mine on IC and fibromyalgia. Didn't have to go for SSDI since I was a teacher.
(I lost my home to Lyme also.)

I hope you can get your life back together now and the reduced stress will help!

Wanted to welcome you back too.

Glad to hear of your SSDI approval.

I've been holding out filing for disability because I would like to go back to work.

I haven't worked since 2000 so maybe it's a case of wishful thinking on my part.

It took me a long time to remember my password, I kept forgetting mine too. I had to write it down in several places. LOL!!!
