That's awesome!
We are not in Connecticut but we see a doctor, and get treated, who practices there.
If there is any complaint by medical personel in the state we live in about this therapy, is it safe to say that due to this new bill our therapy is not in jeopardy?

2roads: I would have to say yes to your question.The thing is now,work has to be done on a Federal bill,that will enable Dr.'s in all states to do the same (treatment-wise). Regardless of if they are an LLMD, or a Lyme-sympathetic Dr. who is willing to learn, and think "outside of the box".
After all, is cancer treatment in California radically different from that on the East Coast? You don't hear people saying my chemo treatment was terminated after "x" Number of months, and I had to go out of state to continue, do you?

Does anyone have any inside info about any new LLDs opening or expanding into CT now? It is still such very slim pickings here....I feel like I've been to almost everybody!!!

Bettyg- I can't answer that question-at this time, though,it's a moot point...
Now pressure needs to be put on the insurance companies,who look to the IDSA guidelines for length of treatment / payment determinations.
As the article said: "But Gov. M. Jodi Rell removed one impediment for treatment Thursday...."

Betty, I would think she has the power (Gov.Rell) to have charges/hearings regarding Dr.J. declared null and void,and make retroactive adjustments.
The Ct. DPH's commissioner's job is probably by political appointment,anyway.(I would have to check that to make sure).....
Hasn't the debacle involving him (Dr.J.) dragged on long enough? Don't Governors have the ability to commute or nullify death sentences, for example?
I think one commenter in that article hit it on the money when he said Dr.Galvin (of DPH fame) sure changed his tune once the bill was signed..

yes, in my MY NON-LAWYER opinion, she has authority over the conn. health dept. director who answers to HER POSITION! ??
i hope some lawyers weigh in here with their knowledge of the system.

Bettyg- It is an appointed job-Galvin was most likely appointed during the previous (John Rowland's) administration,and "Good 'Ole John" went out in a fireball of impropriety, similar to what we had here in NJ with ex-Gov.McGreevey.
The patients in Connecticut would be more familiar with the timeline,and as the one commenter in the linked article said, Galvin made it look almost as though he authored the bill, although he voted against it.

Rell could have stopped the Jones witch trial at any time in the past, but didn't. And probably only signed the bill because of the unanimous legislature action. So, we will have to watch what happens now with the state medical board and Dr. Jones.
