Another week. Wow, does time seem to be flying for me lately!

Seemed like last week was quiet on this thread. I hope every one is doing reasonably well.

Best,
Karen

I was thinking the same thing(s) Karen.

Hoping we all have a better week this week.

I ran away again tonight.

Ended up out at the Waterwheel....the place that has been closed off due to the fire during the summer.

It is still closed off. But, I was feeling trapped with this disease and needed to be at that place.

So found a place to park in between the barriers and walked on in with Rosie.

From the tracks and scats, the wildlife do not know it is closed off.

I wasn't really doing well enough to be on my feet long. Made it to the waterwheel which is about a 2 min hike and back.

I have got to find a new place that has a trail along side a mountain stream and with lots of boulders and pine trees and in a canyon like that one and is easy for me to get to and be on my feet.

The same creek crosses the road several times but that spot had a different feel about it...deeper in the canyon and bigger boulders.

a bit further up there is a great spot but you need to be on your feet longer than I can handle to get there and getting out is an uphill climb.

Perhaps I will be doing well enough to do so this time next year.

I missed exercise last Friday and now today too... all because of plumbing problems!

The plumber finally fixed it today!

May go out to walk on the track tomorrow!

Good to see everyone!

LOL...my first thought is that your body had plumbing problems....then I realized it was your residence.

So, glad it was mechanical and not biological. [Smile]

Missed water therapy last week.

Made it today but kept it short. My goal was just to get there and get in the water.

Forgot to bring the water shoes you sent Karen.

I did have this weird thing about there is something about my feet while I was getting ready though.

Also forgot Rosie's work jacket.

Really enjoyed looking at the painting of the dolphin and the palm trees on the wall today..more than usual.

Miss Pris and I went to the mail. This was the first morning I thought that I am going to have to find my gloves soon. Just a little nippy.

Yesterday was a busy day with laundry and appointments. Today is a cooking day. Having a hard time motivating today. If I did not have a list a mile long, I would spend the day in my pj's and read all day. Oh Calgon, take me away!!!

Best,
Karen

I broke my foot and they misdiagnosed gout. Which is really strange for me to get gout as I eat a stellar diet and am not a fat man (average sized woman). The gout meds about killed me. I kept insisting this didn't feel like gout and my horse had stepped on my foot 2 weeks prior.

4 dr visits later and an MRI finally revealed the truth. Fracture. By then I was in the 4th week and the doctors were amazed at how quickly I was healing.

So I got over the foot thing and last Thurs one of my root canal teeth flared up badly. That hurt worse than the broken foot. Endodonist tomorrow. I'm going to push for extraction. That will rid me of one of the 5 root canals if I can get them to go along.

Not much exercize with me for the last month.

Luvs .. has your dr ever heard of a BLOOD test for gout?? Duh!!

Glad your foot is better! Sorry to hear about the tooth. My tooth is still bad but I haven't had to do anything about it yet. I'm thinking about pulling it too.

My dentist will be mad at me... but I don't care.

Looking forward to hearing that you are out and riding again when you are able.

Walked into PO tonight to check my mail.

Had the pain in intestines and bloating but kept going.

Drove Rosie out to the site where they are waiting to sell lots and build.

Sat on a bench they have there. Wasn't able to hold myself up so got up and walked towards the boulders nearby hoping to find a place to lay on the boulders.

Found two places were the original land dwellers had used to make corn meal.

Lucky person who will purchase that lot.

Noticed there are more boulders cross the street.

Hope to go back when I am able to walk to them and check them out for signs of the original land dwellers.

Wonder where they got there water when they lived there.

Pain in intestines seems to be better now that I am laying flat on my back. Not to worry. It comes with the territory.

Monday-Me and Rocky 3 miles. 45 minutes of workout videos.

Tuesday-45 minutes of workout videos.

My bad left elbow is bothering me (surgery last December).

Do you all think it could have been irritated from the one armed side pushups I'm doing? Duh! [bonk]

I'm definitely gonna have to watch the elbow. I don't want to re-injure it and have another surgery.

Anyways, see you all later!

We are all on a learning curve when it comes to this.

Happy I was able to get out today and walk down a short incline to a stream. Est 15 min on my feet but really did not get far at all. MOst of it was just being there.

Rosie was doing her happy dance and jumping across the creek to the other side.

I tried to find a place to cross over but wasn't strong enough to do so...perhaps next time when I have my hiking boots on.

Lots of fall colors at this creek. Very nice.

Sounds like a nice outing, kam!! I can just SEE Rosie doing her dance!!

I miss not having a dog!

I went to exercise and walked 38 laps.. one mile.

Good job on the videos, AK! I used to do them! They were VCR tapes and I don't have a player anymore. Don't even have a DVD player!

Buns of steel! I remember that video. I used to do that before I got sick back in 1995. Unfortunately for me, it never worked.

Miss Pris and I went to the mail yesterday and today. Yesterday, I did a lot of walking shopping.

I am not sure how active I am going to be today. I have pain in my right knee, right hip and right shoulder. Sounds like flare time for me...

Hope all are well,
Karen

Not sure if this is the Buns of Steel Work out you were talking about.

But, I do know just watching it the first few seconds wore me out!

here is a video to relax after working out.

This water may look inviting but it is so cold it makes your head hurt.

I know...it is one of my favorite memories...just being there. I have always wanted to go back.

Washed my hair in the pool...this was before I was aware that I needed to use non toxic shampoo.

Backpacked into the canyon and camped out.

i know i haven't been keeping up with this. for four months i was riding pretty regularly at a great barn a mile from the house that doesn't have ticks. but my little horse turned into a bucking bronco. at one point i thought i had fractured my pelvis riding her bucks and spooks...but i didn't . hopefully it is a strained ligament -if it isn't better in another month i will have mri-possible tear that needs to be fixed.

anyway-i have been walking the dog and looking for a quieter horse for a few weeks. at first i gained some weight back (i had lost 25 lbs) but it is off again...i've been cleaning a lot---the pain is still there but not stopping me now.

so-i have a decision to make. i did find a quiet horse. she is the first horse i rode after my knee replacements. kinda far from the house and no indoor-but i figured i could try...but the first time i went over there were ticks all over the horse and another horse there has huge growth under jaw...i came home and couldn't sleep cuz i kept feeling things crawling on me.

so i really want to ride...but i just don't know if i should risk that many ticks. the ppl swear there are no ticks on their horses or land. i'm not gonna push it cuz then i won't have a horse. i don't know what to do.

i got spoiled at the barn close to me. they have taken one tick off a cat in 5 yrs. no one has seen any others.

ps-i have a gut feeling the horse i was riding there has lyme and bart and that is why she is bucking and spooking...and i am trying to figure out how to get them to let me pay for a month of doxy...i feel really good about how she improved...i really hate giving up on her

Kayak.. what do you know about root canals?? I'm considering having a tooth pulled myself.

This was a great fall, wasn't it, betty. I imagine you guys got as much rain as we did! It was beautiful here.

I walked my usual mile.

Kayak.. I vote for a place without ticks! You don't need that!!

Thursday-3 miles for me and Rocky. Then, since there wasn't enough pain in my hips, 45 minutes worth of videos!

Friday-Did the same exact thing that I did yesterday.

I'm really trying to increase my activity. My endocrinologist put me on the diabetic diet even though I'm not.

I took one look at that puppy and thought 'no way', so hence the frantic exercising.

(You know it's frantic when you break out your 90's workout videos!)

So far I'm doing good and enjoying it. I sure hope I can keep it up.

TuTu-Thanks for the encouragement! I'm using my old videos too. Hey, as long as they still work I'm not opposed to not updating to DVD's.

Kam-I'm still on dial-up unfortunately so I'm not able to go to youtube. The tapes that I have are the 'Quick Toning' series for those of us who 'have no time'.

I used them in the 90's when I worked. Course now I've got all the time in the world. [shake]

I tried a couple of Jane's too. I've done so many I can't remember them all.

KGG-Mine have yet to turn into steel! [lol]

BettyG-Yeah!

Ipkayak-I feel so sorry for the sick horse. [Frown]

See you all later!

[hi]

Kayak...hmm...sure hope things work out for you. Glad to hear you were able to go for a walk.

You too Betty and tutu.

Walked into the dog park tonight and sat down and walked out like a normal person. Pretty cool.

Short stay. Est 10 min??

And got gas for the car. Not much walking there, but the unusual thing was that I got gas like a normal person.

Had no problem standing there while I waited for the gas tank to fill up.

Miss Pris and I went to the mail. I did not do much more activity yesterday. Not feeling great.

As far as root canals goes, I have done both. I have had teeth pulled and I have root canals. I recently had another root canal and will continue to choose that option. When you pull a tooth you actually are losing the use of two. The one opposite it as well.

Seems like the information on root canals is so varied. I had one LLMD that could not believe how many I had. My present one was OK with it as long as I treated any infection present. Teeth are expensive. Implants are $3000. Bridges are expensive. So I opt for root canals.

Kyack, I am not sure I would go anywhere near an area that had ticks. Just too much of a risk. And I think they carry a lot more pathogens than they did years ago. Do you spray your clothes with Rotenone? I would at the very least do that.

Have a good Saturday everyone!
Karen

Thanks for the info on the root canals, etc. I just very frankly can't afford a root canal.

I'm going to a homecoming parade in a few minutes. It's VERY warm here.. at least 80.

after what pigwit and i went thru with root canals i don't think anyone can afford NOT to get them out. i belive they keep you sick...prevent you from being able to get well.

pigwit was worse off than me-he put tx on hold for a yr to get them all out. now tx helps him.

well...i'm gonna risk the ticks tomorrow. its gonna be really warm and i can get her cleaned up and get the barn and stuff ready for winter...there is no indoor. i hope the weather guys are right (mild el nino winter) not the almanac...(baaaad winter coming)

i'm gonna spray my boots and breeches with permethrin

i'm thinking of spraying her hoofs too...but don't know if that will make her sick if it gets on her pasture.

i'm gonna take some time with her crusties tomorrow and see if i actually find a tick...

i just really want to get back to riding...

i believe they are carrying all kinds of new bugs too

and i thought i was sort of safe from flus in the barn away from ppl...but now-maybe not. there's barn cats.

the last few weeks i have noticed a lot of ppl are walking around with sores on their faces. all kinds of ppl. not lyme ppl. friends. waitresses. mailmen. anyone else see this?

little red spots...not really scabby-sort of look like early chic pox or measles-but no center or pus. just red. in groups 3-5.

well...i just hope my two weeks of not riding is over. i'm so glad i didn't gain a bunch more weight.

Having a bit of joy in your life is good too Kayak. I would think being able to ride would bring me joy so hoping it does you too.

Able to be on my feet a bit today out in the forest.

But, had the difficulty of walking, weakness and breathing and the heart pounding thing going on.

Still good to be there. had an arm to lean on so that helped.

well. i just got back from riding TWO horses. both sweet-safe-a little dirty and unfit...but thats ok. we'll get fit together.

i did pull 3 ticks off the horse a the barn that "didn't have ticks" and the husband took them from me so now his wife can't say they don't have them.

and....one barn wants me to work with a second horse and the other barn has two more hosres for me.

never rains but pours, huh?

so-i'm gonna work two horses-two times a week...and see what is safer or more comfortable or whatever...and go from there.

i'm gonna put permethrin on my boots and britches...i just wonder if there is anything safe to put on a horse.

i do feel really, really happy tho. i was so relaxed around both these horses. not afraid they were going to bite or kick me ...

and its gonna be warm this week!!!!!

Sounds good kayak.

Guinea hens I have heard will eat the ticks which may cut back on the horses getting them.

Had a good outing today with 2 very pleasant people.

Got to see a few kayaks come down a creek in a canyon.

Did that thing where one leg buckles under me or perhaps it was the gravel that caused me to slip and fall.

Not a bad fall, but ankle still hurts and body hurts all over with difficulty moving it.

I think I just over did it. Been there before.

Need to just lay low and give the body time to recoup.

Just wondering how long it is going to take.
