I went for my annual eye exam and was told I have a cataract in my right eye. [Eek!]

I'm only fifty-five. I thought old people got cataracts...

When I got home I had a message on my answering machine stating that I needed to make an appointment for an additional mammogram and an ultrasound due to a questionable spot on my right breast. Ugh!!

I just want to cry! I guess I just need someone to tell me everything is gonna be okay. [Frown]

Oh, sorry. I turned a cataract around - and that was 20 years ago when I was only 36. No mention of it at all in recent years.

I think you can also turn around a breast spot - and remember, it's just a spot on a film. It may be nothing. Just do the ultrasound and go from there. But, it is extra stress, so be sure your adrenal support is on board.

For your eyes, you might consider adding natural Beta Carotene, Bilberry or Lutein supplements.

Even if your liver support is tip-top, it is vital to add antioxidants such as those (and fish oil), too. The fish oil can help decrease inflammation but you might also consider Turmeric or the stronger extract, Curcumin.

Eating bright red tomatoes, rich orange carrots and dark berries would be good, too, as long as they are in balance with your proteins and fats. Lots of leafy greens and other greens, too, are excellent. The more color in your veggies, the better for your eyes.

joalo -

Hang in there. You will get through all of this. It doesn't seem like it, but we all keep going on each day. You are brave and strong. Much stronger than any of us realize.

I am sending you warm, warm hugs.

I had the exact two things happen to me in the past 2 wks. The follow up mammo proved to be OK after-all and I didn't have to have the ultrasound!

Was told I have cataracts in both eyes. So I guess we're officially OLD now!

I'm 59 .. but look way younger, I'm told! [Razz]

Let us know about your extra mammo.. praying it will be OK for you too!!

Lymetoo,

I'm so sorry you are going through this, too. I'm so happy to hear your second mammo came out clean. That is very encouraging. [group hug]

My parents didn't get cataracts til they were in their seventies. (Some days I feel like I'm seventy)!!! [bonk]

Rather than a second mammogram or even ultrasound, there are now more highly defined MRIs used for breast diagnoses. See if you can get that - it may take pre-authorization from insurance but I hear a breast MRI is far better. Just take good ear plugs.

joalo,

So happy to hear that your 2nd mammogram was fine and you didn't need the ultrasound!!

That must be a big worry off your mind.

I've been there and done that too.

Celebrate in some way....you deserve it!!
