There are so many of us on antibiotics and other treatments, which bring side effects that sometimes seem as scary as the Lyme itself. How do you overcome this fear? I'm having a hard time not thinking about the possibilities. I'd appreciate any insights you'd care to share. Thanks!

I'd like to know this, too.
The side effects, for me, are scarier than the Lyme.
I do treatment, but it is getting more and more frightening to keep putting a pill in my mouth.

the fear of being this ill from Lyme is much scarier thean the treatment. The treatment is getting us well. There is no fear for me with that.

I find the side effects of plaquenil to be quite scary...still waiting to get my retinas examined...not sure how to get over the fear once I do that to take the pill....

Exactly!! You do what you've got to do because the alternative is worse in my experience.
I was so ill when I started treatment that I would rather die than go on living the way I was. My sister did die last October. She had been clinically diagnosed but was not doing anything for treatment. She was very ill for a long time. Her suffering was great. I'm fairly certain the underlying cause was lyme since she had the same symptoms that I do.
Make sure you have enough detox to help your body with the die-off. That helps a lot.
Seeing a doctor that you trust and reporting any alarming symptoms helps me with any anxiety about treatment.

I fear treatment but I also fear no treatment. If I could just find a doctor that was lyme friendly or someone that would help me understand and help with the fear it would be much easier.
I had to go for some extensive dental surg. I was so scared but the doctor was so great..I was afraid of the medicine not the pain etc. He held my hand and talked and explained everything to me and I did great..because he understood my fear and walked me through it. The surg. was nothing after that.
Now that is the doc I am looking for.

If you can find that doctor, I definitely want to know his/her name. That is exactly who we all seek -- someone who is very knowledgeable about this disease, but caring enough to understand the fear and take the time to walk us through the concerns.
