I am on Weight Watchers so lose some poundage. I like smoothies but want to add something for a little energy boost. I also am not good with eating my vegies....
Also, I am sensitive to smell - I also a wuss, if it tastes like dirt, goat hair or compost I won't drink it.
I know, that takes all the good stuff out....but start slow with me. I want to eat healthy, but don't want to waste money.
I have seen whey protein powder, etc....
Thank you all....remember, I am a wuss.

I'm not a fan of whey protein powders. I don't like the taste and no matter what kind of smoothie I add it to, I can tell it is there!
I use plant fusion protein powder instead. You can read up on it at the link. It doesn't have a very strong taste and I can hardly tell it is there in my smoothies.
You could also try adding some greens into your smoothies. I know, I know...doesn't sound very good but you'd be surprised how much spinach you can add to a smoothie without affecting the taste too much.
A good beginner smoothie would be frozen strawberries and blueberries and some fresh spinach. This was one of the first smoothies I made when I went "green".
If you wanna be brave and eventually drink one of the greens mixes to add to smoothies or water, I would go with a berry flavored one. I use Amazing greens berry green superfood powder.
You can click HERE to find additional user reviews of the product.
The berry greens powder will help with energy levels. It takes a bit of time to get used to, but your taste buds will actually change and you won't mind it all that much.
Same thing with the smoothies. Start off small...only adding like 1 or 2 handfuls of spinach and you can work your way up.
I actually crave my smoothies! I'm finally incorporating kale into the mix. We'll see how that goes!
When you're feeling braver, you could move along to other greens. Another smoothie that is an easy one for beginners is 2 carrots, 1 small green apple, 1/4-1/2 cucumber and some stevia or whatever you use for a sweetener. Just add ice and water (or I use almond milk at times) and mix it up!

I get mine at the grocery store I shop at. They have a big health/organic section. They sell them at The Vitamin Shoppe as well. Noticed when I was in there the other day.
I would think most health food stores have them. I usually sprinkle them on my yogurt. Never thought to put them in my smoothies! If anyone is interested, this is the yogurt I eat. Very tasty! I get plain vanilla. I get this at the grocery store as well.

Dogsandcats - try adding ground flax seed in your smoothie - it has a lot of omega 3. You won't taste it at all. It is better if you buy whole flax seeds then grind up what you want to use in a coffee grinder, and then even toast them in a dry pan to bring out more nutty flavor. Whatever you don't use you can store in the freezer (along with the bag of whole flax seeds).

I put chia seeds in my whey protein smoothies all the time.
They are the richest plant source of Omega 3's....even better than flax seed.
When you put them in your smoothie and let it sit for a few minutes, they plump up a little and become a little gel-like.
They help to keep you feeling full too.
I use Designer Whey in the Natural flavor which really means Unflavored. I want it unflavored so I can add whatever fruit, etc I want.
My chia seeds are from Bob's Red Mill and I get them in the organic section of my grocery store.
I get my whey protein powder from my Natural (Health Food) Store.
