I'm so excited....!
Our area holds a large fair each year that's been going on for 40 years. They have a parade, rodeo, etc etc. My small Lyme Group (and I mean small) are putting a float in the parade! It will be viewed by approximately 33,000 people because it will be televised. This is a huge event every year in our area.

The trailer has been delivered to our meeting spot at a local church. Here's the tentative plan for the float: draped in Lyme Green with cut streamers around the bottom edge of the trailer. Near the head of the trailer, will be a forest scene made from various artificial greenery from home and using a Christmas tree. We will then hang our artificial ticks in various places on the tree and the float itself...ticks made from oval Chinet paper plates with black poster board backing for legs.

 -

If there is room, I'm placing a small table at the end of the float, drape it with lime green plastic and place a wheel chair on top. On the wheel chair will be 2 signs: 'Lyme disables', and 'Corrupt IDSA guidelines for treatment are disabling us'.

I'm praying this will all come together so that we will take home first place and raise Lyme disease awareness. Yeeehhhhhhh!

Since she lives in a garbage dump, no doubt some of the local residents have run into the IDSA guideline authors at some time or another.

We scrapped the wheel chair idea along with the IDSA sign. We are going to display a very large sign....with warnings that the disease is present and alive in the community. Plus the 300,000 or more a year statistic.

Other banners will be for awareness. Like 'protect your children' 'be aware of Lyme disease' etc. 'Contact us at blah blah' Anyhow, I'm making this a natural looking float and it will be succesful.
