Hey Friends,

This is just an update.

I feel like I had a good appnt. with my ILADS Dr.

What was concluded at the meeting is that my body-Liver and co. are big time overtaxed after being sick for years.

My Dr. was fine with starting a treatment protocol right away at my request (which he said most want pronto),

but suggested first checking and building upon the 'foundation'-

i.e. primarily the Gut and being aware that my Liver is overloaded to the max.

I have never been able to tolerate or 'hold' Abx and pretty much most medications.

My Dr. suggested that the regulation of my body is so taxed and out of balance that another straw put on the haystack causes major reactions.

Therefore, system overload.

I've had major problems even changing my diet.

Of course I went overnight on a strict Lyme diet instead of slowing eliminating the bad stuff.

I've felt horrible since changing my diet.

So, I'll have a very thorough lab test done for the Gut while building it up a bit before treatment.

This put my wife a bit at ease since she's seen for years that I can't tolerate meds. or any big changes for that matter.

I don't know what the future holds and I'm a bit scared but I'm glad this Dr. is very much involved with ILADS.

Appreciate the support I've found here.

That is exactly what has happened to me. I'm 5 years into this and have always had to take frequent breaks from treatment due to not being able to tolerate it.

I only did abx consistently for the first 2 1/2 years and even that was intermittent.

I have been with my current LLMD for a year now and we still haven't gotten to a point where we can consistently treat the infections. We are working on detox and liver support first along with diet.

Like you said just trying to strengthen the foundation. I have done abx for serious gut dysbiosis however. I am on my second round right now. Next is targeting yeast.

Honestly when I read people's struggles I feel bad and at the same time get a bit scared of what's coming.

I've had this sickness evidently for years yet I've remained pretty active through my life considering how I've felt half the time.

My main problems have been in the head...anxiety, ears, eyes, losing it kind of symptoms.

I'm kind of afraid I'll just get worse and stay there once on treatment.

I also see many here wanting to abandon Abx treatment after trying it for years.

It looks like I won't start my treatment till the end of summer.

Can't say that I'm looking forward to it.

Keep in mind, Fred, that the posts you read here are not the whole story. People who are feeling better and having few problems with treatment tend not to say much, just get back to a more normal life. They are not needing as much support anymore, so they make infrequent forum visits or none at all.
