We took my husband by ambulance to the hospital tonight with chest pain. He has a history... heart attack at 43 years old, two stents and a ICD in his chest.
He had a cardiac cath in June and everything was fine but had chest pain, right arm and jaw pain tonight that did not get better with nitro tablets.
After two more nitro tablets, pain is gone and blood work is fine. They are keeping him in the hospital tonight for observation. Thank God my Pastor lives next door.
We hope to pick him up tomorrow morning. He has Lyme too. Prayers please that it was nothing but normal angina.

Last night they showed cardiac enzymes in the blood work so it was a good thing they kept him overnight. They transferred him to a better hospital and he is scheduled for a cardiac cath tomorrow.
He had one in June and it was fine. He does have a pacemaker/defibrillator for arrhythmias which we now believe have been caused by Lyme disease.
I am hoping that they will do the test early and they will let him go home. The question is did he have a mild heart attack or did just a piece of plaque move and block something temporarily. More grey hairs!!
This kind of emotional jolt just makes every fiber of my body hurt. I have to get through this and hope my body recovers from all this stuff. My husband looks good and is complaining about the hospital food and not getting coffee.
Whatever happened, he seems okay now. We just have to find out what the heck started this. He wasn't really doing anything when this started and he has stable angina. Rarely lasts more than 2 minutes.
My husband has had so many cardiac cath's that we make jokes about putting zippers in his groin. He already has two stents (a heart attack at 43 years old) so I sure hope he won't get another stent tomorrow. That would mean another day in the hospital. He will be 59 next month.
We are working on a plan to hopefully have him retire early. Can you imagine two Lyme brains trying to plan that?!!

Oh man. I thought elevated enzymes meant a heart attack???
I'll keep you both in prayer, faithful!! I've had the cath before too. Not bad, but NOT fun. A zipper would be good!
Hope he doesn't have to have a stent!

Faithful, how are you and your husband doing tonight? Did the doctors figure out what was wrong? Is he feeling better? Was he able to come home from the hospital?
Hugs friend, I'm still praying for you both.

They finally did the cardiac cath on my husband at almost noon today. It went a lot later than it was supposed to,(it was scheduled for yesterday but he got bumped because they ran late) but we are glad it is over with.
They did NOT put in a stent. No changes in blood vessels since the last cath but his heart is not squeezing as briskly as the previous cath they did a few years ago.
They think that either a clot or a piece of plaque came off and temporarily occluded an artery and then just resolved itself. It cut off the blood supply just long enough to kill a few heart muscle cells, which elevated the treponin enzymes.
Even though the enzymes were mildly elevated, the cath showed no change in his heart function. So they are NOT calling this a heart attack.
They believe that whatever caused the blockage just went down the pipeline. Because it could have been a plaque rupture, which leaves the vessel with a rough spot, they will put him on Plavix for two months to make sure nothing sticks to that spot.
The cath was done radially which will make recovery much easier him. No lifting of over 5 lbs with his right hand is the only restriction for a week.
He is home tonight, will stay home tomorrow to catch up on some sleep and go to work on Thursday.
Man, we need some boring time now. We took a two week vacation to Colorado, then our dog had a patella luxation done where they had to fracture her leg and put screws in just two days after getting back from vacation.
Just a few days after that we take this ambulance ride to the hospital and have to wait 3 days to have the test done that tells us what is going on.
Tomorrow I have to get some food in the house and go back to the hospital to retrieve my husband's jeans with his car keys in them. Somehow when they transported him from one hospital to the other, the pants didn't go. At least they were found.
Thank you for all the prayers. Now we can both get a good nights sleep tonight.
