Hi <<<<< LymeNet Family >>>>>,
Apologies for any errors/Typos not used to this keyboard.
We arrived at our, new to us, residence Oct.27th, w/plans to be back in SE Idaho and pick up the rest of our things on the 28th.
We were to come back here to our new abode toward the end of the first week of Nov.
Mechanical issues occurred, and we've been here since Oct.27th.
First month was interesting w/ no vehicle, and acquaintances trying to pack and clean for us.
At this point about 1/3 of our things are still in storage in Idaho,it'll be sorta like Christmas for us when we can go get the rest. We're not sure when as yet.
Just part of 'Wolfi and TxC's so called roller coaster ride life.
And hows by y'all? Sorry I've been off board for so long, the move was exhausting, tho' neccesary.
Jus' that Silverwolfi hoping life is treating each of y'all better now!

Hi there <<<<< MADDOG and Lymetoo >>>>>,
A friend was helping us, by using their vehicle to pull a trailer for us,and get themselves a weekend away.
Sadly, their maintenance of the rig left a lot to be desired.
We ended up in a mad scramble to get the trailer, ourselves, our small dog, a friend who was helping w/loading/unloading, and said owner-driver of the vehicle, to our new place.
Then a mad scramble to get loading-friend, and driver-friend back to SE Idaho for work, and work search, while we stayed behind.
It was difficult, and proved costly...but we are enjoying the new to us home, and the new area.
The desert can get cold at night, during winter months, but nothing like the beautiful state of Idaho that we've left behind us.
While 20 degrees F' is cold, it isn't like waking up to 7 degrees F', or 10 below...brrrbrrbrr.
Much easier to live w/20 and 30 degree weather for a few weeks, and be 20 minutes from a VA hospital, as we are now!
Before it was 7 hrs. round trip often for a 30 or 40 minute appt.,or if any sort of medical procedure/test etc. was to be done.
We don't have to worry about blizzards now, altho' we get high winds here from time to time.
There is better access to GF foods, and supplements here too, tho' cost is still a factor.
We can still see mountains, but the snow usually stays up in them, not here!!!
And I like that night security comes thru every night in our area. We do put up w/ more traffic here, huge city and all, but not too horrible.
We are in a quiet housing area, and directly behind our walled-fence, is a senior citizens housing area.
All in all so far we are enjoying things so far,we'll see what summertime heat brings.
Silverwolfi catchin' up!

Hi there,
Brain burped...my lack of memory...arggh.
We've been waiting for VA to get in gear, with a video conference,it will be held in Boise,Id.
We've unfortunately been waiting for over two and a half years, it was supposed to be accomplished w/in 6 to 8 months.
It would be about TxC's disability rating increase due to herbicide exposure issues, and injuries that are service connected.
A Federal Judge in DC would rule as to the outcome.
When they finally get to the conference call, who knows, perhaps TxC' could look up Just Don there!
We have no idea when this teleconference will be as yet.
Well I'm off, and we aren't at --I da ho-- no mo'.

lpkayak, I do have an Idaho Veterans Service Officer who works for the state not the feds and she works hard getting things pushed through. She has even contacted her supervisor in Boise about my situation.
Also a 3 year wait is about the average now. What happened is that there was a multiplying factor of about 10 because of the release of info that troops stationed in Thailand were subjected to the same herbicides used in Vietnam.
I say "herbicide" because there was a rainbow of identifying colors used. Agent Orange is the name most popular but there was Agent Blue, Agent Red, Agent Yellow - you get the picture.
So now there are millions of vets (old and new) with service connected disabilities coming in and overloading the system.
That's why there is a such a delay. But we just keep hangin' in and hanging on!

Hi there <<<<< lpkayak >>>>>,
Our frustration w/ the VA situation, has been that they've left us hanging for many, many, months w/ no explanation as to what was really going on.
Further annoyances ,have been finding that one or more Doctors changed their minds and reversed their diagnosis mid-stream as it were.
The VSO's boss in Boise discovered this strange mishmash of fact and ?ficition?, for lack of a better phrase.
He spoke to TxC's VSO,and then called us, he is as upset as we are bout all the double think.
As an example, it is being claimed there is no evidence, Drs' notations etc. that TxC has certain medical problems. So then we ask VSO Boss for Boise,"Then why did they issue medications for these supposedly non-existant problems ?...".
VSO Boss for Boise,is not happy, he would like answers just like we would. it seems like such things are happening to many of the Vets.
We know of one individual, that had to fight for 10 years to get rightful disability benefits, another, is going on eight years of fighting to get their proper benefits.
Other than all that we are settling in here, and trying to get well. Just the not knowing is so hard, and we try to make every penny count.
It is hard to understand why so many Vets are being treated this way.
To end on a brighter note, we do love our new to us place to live!

Hi Tex and Silverwolf, tell us about your new place. First or second floor, yard or balcony, washer/dryer? Is it larger than your previous lodging?
I hope you get a chance to visit some of the natural wonders in your new area.

Hi <<<<< CArol in PA >>>>>,
We are in a mobile estate park, it's probably the largest abode we've live in,over 1000 sq.ft, that's large to us.
It's all one floor, 2bdrms, two restrooms, and a washer/dryer too! The yard space is nice, altho' weeds and grasses can creep in.
There is a nice ski lodge a couple hours from us. And, as we understand it a lot of mining in the area.
We are mostly desert, palm trees rustling breezes, and the occasional cactus, some pine and I think cedar, still checking on what grows here.
One of those, natural wonders- a living one may be prone to show up in folks yards. They are Tortoises, a friend of ours studies them, from time to time.
TxCoord [TxC'] read about them, they tend to wander into the city. We were told not to be surprised if we see some.
Interesting in a huge tourist town, but the draw for us, was 20 minutes from a great VA hospital, and usually warm to hot dry weather.
Snow is a rarity in town, for which I am glad!!!
Folks from around the world come here, and there are many cultures to learn about.
The restaurants/fast food places etc. are reasonably priced, large selection, lot's of ethnic foods.
TxCoord loves that there is a Popeye's Fried Chicken close to us. I have to be really watchful, as I am Gluten Free ,as to my diet.
But we've even found a few places that have a GF menu. We still have to watch our finances very carefully, but for special times it is nice.
[ We recently celebrated our 36th 'Going Steady' anniversary!! And this coming November will be our 35th Wedding Anniversary !!!].

Our " Steady Anniversary " was fun, there is a small Thai restaurant near us,and we had dinner there.
And we took a bit of a drive, still trying to get used to being in large city traffic.

<<<<< Dekrator48 >>>>>,
We are enjoying the new to us rental, and area, tho' it does get windy, more so than we knew.
And we are working on a weed control issue.I like hearing the winds whistle and rustle thru the palm trees!
Sometimes it is amusing to hear the neighborhood noises, hopefully I'm not repeating myself.
Across the street there is a Basset hound, just down from him is a parrot, that likes to sing and chirp.
There are a lot of cats in area ,as well which means less rodents, and scorpions!!!
And we finally have a new bed too!!! TxC' was sleeping on the futon, and I'd been sleeping in the recliner. [much of our belongings are still in storage in SE Idaho.
It isn't as loud as one might expect, other than the neighborhood pets. Altho' one can hear sirens and police helicopters now and again.
We are used to the planes and jets now, we live between a military base and a large airport.
When I was just a little girl, we lived close to a huge airport, and TxC' is former Airforce.
It will get interesting this summer, w/ the desert heat,so we'll see how that goes.

<<<<< Lymetoo >>>>>, Hey there,
We are trying to get some idea as to what all to expect on the utilities, here.
Landlord used to use the swamp cooler here for cooling. He felt that that helped, quite a bit,and he didn't use the AC unit as often then.
We used them in Louisiana part of the time, and in one place in Northern Idaho. SO we'll see what happens that way too.
I am glad that the food here is comparable to SE Idaho price wise, so that at least helps us be able to budget a little.
We've learned to keep extra, safe drinking water on hand as well. A couple times there have been water issues. I think they are slowly having to replace the water mains in this area.
The new bed was necessary, and we are glad to have it. We did some comparing first.
Hopefully, the VA will make up their mind soon about getting TxC's hearing scheduled for his disability. Then we'll know how much he will be getting.
The Vet. Serv. Officer area Boss, was not a happy camper when he saw the run around we've been given. He is trying to get things expedited.
It is hard to understand why they are treating our Veterans this way. Far too many have a story just like ours.
Anyway, it will be an interesting summer, and we are saving up where we can ,hoping to keep utility bills down.
